Update on the gunshop in NJ. My hours were cut back to just one day a week which is OK since I am retired twice over and do not need the money and would rather spend time with the twin grandsons shooting. They got their first taste of shooting an AK type firearm this past weekend. They seem to enjoy it. Well, back to the gunshop, there is no stock left. Sold my last Tactical shotgun on Tuesday nothing left. I still have the odd duck looking for firearms that are just not available. They are like having lived on another planet and never watching the news. Last week we had 30 Troy Defense A4 Other Firearms in 9mm and 5.56mm. I am down to 8 5.56mm and 2 9mm Troys left. I have only one Glock 27 left!! Everything else is gone. No idea when I will get a resupply. Even the gun distributors are out!

With all of the talk of abolishing the Police, I got lots of black folks coming in to buy firearms for the first time to protect their families from the inner city crime they will become even worse. Indoor ranges are still not open only outdoor ranges. I also work at a Police Range in southern NJ usually the rifle range. I had lots of people on Sunday some the regulars which I have not seen since late last year. I was out for 3 months with a right knee replacement. Usually the range is just opened only on the weekend to the public. We are going to open in the evenings to see if there is an interest. Everyone stay safe. We are living in interesting times.

    People Are Wound Up !

Many of you may have seen how overboard our Michigan Woman governor Whitmer went with her rules during the Covid shut down. Couldn't fish with a motor on your boat, marinas and boat ramps closed, no lawn mowing... on and on. Most has been repeated on the National news multiple times. State gun ranges, parks, camp grounds, etc shut down.

I mentioned in a earlier reply here that I was waiting for our private Rifle club to get the word out when they would be opening back up. I live 5 miles as a crow flies south of our club, it's called the CCRC for short which stands for Capitol City Rifle Club on Germanyicon road here in Williamston, MI. Some of you may know it as we have a few CMPicon shoots there every year, Like The Frozen Chosin in December. In total one way there is 7 miles for me. Over the shutdown I never drove by it. Figured no need to since it would probably just aggravate or depress me even more.

Long story short, I Emailed one of the board members I know well and often shoot carbines with. Asked him when we may open back up?
Felt like I was kicked in the B@lls after reading his reply yesterday that they'd been open the whole time !!!!! To just use social distancing.

Drove by today on my way to pick up a carbine a friend from up that way is having some trouble with. Very light primer strikes that Fails to Fire (More on that later). While driving by the Club there were some shooters there. I drove slowly by and have to say just hearing the 'Report' from some firing gave me a calming feeling.
So I'll get out there this coming week, I feel stupid and embarrassed about not knowing it was open.
I should have checked but feel with the yearly dues I pay and have paid for over 15 years that a Email from the Club would have been nice.

    A Side Note:
3 days ago my neighbor took 3 shots at a Wood chuck in his back yard. He rested his .22 LR on his picnic table and dispatched it. He waited until it was lined up with the 5 big oak trees which make for a safe backstop if needed. We live on the river with nothing but thick woods across it and the nearest house or road 3-1/2 miles across it. I own 15 acres directly behind me across the river, bought for hunting. We're just outside city limits and can legally shoot in the back and across the river but the Mosquitos are horrible after all the rain we've had. Anyways he shot at about 3 pm. In less than 15 minutes my Wife came out telling us she was reading on a City Facebook Community page/site about some gal asking if anyone else had heard the 'Automatic Gun fire' of about 8 or 9 shots coming from an area well south of us. Others were saying they also heard it and reports of as many as 13 - 15 shots had been fired. All were reporting hearing these 'Multiple shots from all kinds of different directions.

Seen the local Police drive by later in the evening, who we both know. Told him about shooting the Wood Chuck just to see him grin.

Can't wait to get to the range..

And for the Facebook Neighborhood Watch Group,
Can't wait to Light off the Fireworks I've got bought up for this year. Just something awesome about shooting off 2 and 3" Mortars !

The PA Legislature stripped the Governor of his emergency powers on Wednesday. He is acting like they don't have the power to do it so is ignoring them. They took it to court, he immediately bumped it up to the State Supreme Court knowing they are in his back pocket.

I'm not sure who is right on this one. The Legislature was initially only going to strip his powers to regulate businesses as that's what they said they had the authority to do, not the entire declaration. The remainder was covered under some other clause that protected the governor. But they changed it suddenly and stripped him of everything. This tells me they found something they didn't see the first time and are likely on the stronger ground. I read the "law" which they are claiming gives them this authority and it looks good to me. Governor is trying to scare the public by claiming if the declaration ends, all Federal money stops and that's a load of crap. This guy has simply gone nuts. He hid in his basement for two months, no one saw him. Then he comes out of hiding to publicly walk in the BLM protests. His Health Secretary is under a lot of pressure to resign and criminal charges might be levied against him. For those of you that don't know, he is a transvestite that believes he is a woman or wants to be a woman, not sure. So we got that going for us. He pulled his mother out of her nursing home before he ordered the nursing homes to take covid patients. As a result, about 80% of all our states deaths are in nursing homes.

In any case, it looks like the Legislature has the upper hand and even the State Supreme Court may not be able to back the Governor on this one. It will likely go to the Federal courts if they do and he will likely lose. No one in this country has unlimited dictatorial powers.

And then there's the who is actually listening to who factor. I'd say well over half the population is now ignoring the Governor. Counties controlled by Republicans ceased enforcing his dictates about a month ago. I walked into one of my building supply companies yesterday wearing my mask. All the barricades were down, gone, like they never existed and no one was wearing a mask. Took mine off pretty quick. The big box stores etc are still enforcing many of the restrictions and some of the local ones are as well but many others are not.

Then there's the stupid factor. I love flea markets, etc as many know and one of my favorites is about 3 hours from here where family lives. So when we visit we go. This place is on several acres of land and it's never been used to it's fullest extent. The owners announced yesterday that they are not going to open for the entire season. Just dumb. I made some very critical comments on their facebook page and got a response from the owners. They are afraid they will lose their license if they open, they don't want to be responsible for any deaths and as they are so large, they cannot possibly stay under the 250 per event limit as they have that many vendors alone. That there is the stupid factor. They are in the Green zone now which is the least restrictive. They are NOT a gathering, they are a flea market. Our local Walmart at the height of this in the Red zone was allowed to have 1100 customers in the store at any given time. This flea market is outside and occupies a space at least twice the size of the footprint of our Walmart. I suspect they have some sort of subsidy going on that gives them income without having to do anything and that's the reason they are not opening. People are pretty upset with them with a 5 to 1 margin to criticism to support. The sheep keep thanking them for keeping them safe, etc. The sheep need to just stay home. No one is keeping them safe but themselves and no one is endangering them but themselves.

Here, the infection is rapidly declining, in spite of much more open behaviour by most people.
My only concern is that many people, and more worrying, all public organisations, are scared by the disease and terrorised by the justice system here.
Judges are complete mavericks here. They are politically very much oriented and have started investigating politicians and nursing home managers. Of the "opposing parties".
It is the same everywhere, those nursing homes were a tragedy, but here they look for political "justice".
And that is what makes me worry. I'm sure that, if there should be any kind of disease, or even a light comeback of Covid, Italyicon would probably shut down for good.
Just to quiet down the fearful or the ones with responsibilities.
And if the economy dies...who cares.
Judges earn a lot of money and are completely irresponsible in front of everybody else.
For the rest, we're going towards normality again, which is great.

Things are slowly opening up. Between the Covid-19, BLM protesters, and no stock to sell customers. The latest thrill is a large black bear running through the local neighborhoods. These idiots think its a cute stuffed teddy bear to get a selfie with. Darwin award winners here's your sign!

The Darwin Award winners sometimes can be amazing... As a Christian, I feel a bit ashamed when I laugh in front of certain videos, but I can't help. Some things are just too extreme...
If I'm not wrong, Alfred Einstein said:
    The intelligent man solves problems,
    The wise man avoids them,
    The stupid man, creates them.

So, after all, if there are so many problems in this world, there also must be a reason

Some gun observations. I went to our first gun show since this all started on Saturday. The crowd was not what I was expecting. There wasn't one. This particular show at Gettysburg PA is usually tough to get a parking place at but we had no trouble. Went in looked around and not a huge amount of activity going on. Found Mike sat down with him and did my Tokarev paperwork and talked for a LONG time. The Instant background checks were not instant by any means. I didn't keep track of the time but it had to be close to an hour and a half. I told him I was surprise at how few people were there and he said the place was packed between 9:00-11:00. They came in bought all the ammo and left. Slightly scary thought.

Today I stopped in our local gunshop for the first time also. Just had no desire to go in there when I didn't need to when people were acting crazy. His handgun cases were almost empty. Very few black guns on the racks. No one there but me and one other guy. Other guy asked about the crowds and he said if we wanted to see crowds, to come back in the evening. People were back to work now and I was there around 2:00 which is early. Said the place gets full after people get off work.

My ammo order that was placed in April was cancelled. Price went up $55 on a reorder, I complained, they said they would honor the original price and gave me a $25 coupon. Tried to reorder but in the 3 days to get my complaint answered, they sold out again. So who knows when I'll get that if ever and if the price will be good or not.
