This is all politics here in the US now. The media and Dr Fauci, etc continue with the false narrative that this is spiraling out of control. They are constantly claiming massive spikes in new cases and stating these states are in bad shape when the truth is far from it. We do have a spike in new cases but it's because we are testing at 5 to 6 times the rate we were during the peak of the pandemic. Before, you had to have been severely ill before they would test you. Now just about anyone can get tested. The rate of positives is declining, the rate of deaths is declining and we are no where near the peak levels. According to a CDC report issued on Friday, we are just barely over the threshold for this to be called an epidemic. The big thing now is whether schools will open or not in the fall. Still a month and a half away so not sure what the big deal is but they don't close them for the flu and that is about where this is at now.

So they say the young people are driving these spikes. Again a false narrative. The young people were spreading it before, they simply weren't sick enough to be tested, now they are being tested. They think people are dumb enough to not understand this and sadly, many are. So the panic continues. People from the North are afraid to travel to the South when the death rates in the South are a fraction of what they are in the North.

Similar to what happened and, under some aspects, still happens here.
We have still a few cases, but even in Bergamo there is not a single Covid-patient in an ICU anymore.
The problem, as I stated from the very beginning, is that there is no co-ordinated communication. Too many people talk and, what makes this situation worse, is that in this social-media age, there is such a ground noise of incompetent and ideologically biased people who talk and talk and talk, that it is impossible to understand which way the thing is going.
As for me, I have decided long ago to follow my instinct and common sense rules. I'm living much better and stopped worrying for the continuous countermands we get on a daily basis.
Some still die, a few are tested positive, but those who land in hospital, or worse in an ICU, are less and less.
I fear the fear of people and of institutions in our liability society... Many people and practically all public institutions are paralysed by fear.
I wonder what will happen as soon as somebody gets a cold in September...

I replied a few pages back about having to take my Wife in for a out patient procedure this Friday. She had to be Virus tested per the Doctor before hand and tests results had to be on file there for them to proceed. And because I will be accompanying her I also had to be testing and the test results on file. Tuesday we went to a approved by the hospital testing site and set in 1 of 3 drive thru lanes for 45 minutes until we were up. The testing site is a branch of this same hospital. This morning I find out that I have to drop her off and not allowed in. I must be with in a 15 minute driving range, basically on stand by. When she checks in their office will call me to verify that I'm there. They asked if our test results were back. When they tested us we were told they forward results to the hospitals records dept. Wouldn't they know that ? Wife just called and was told that test results are confidential.... WTF ! If we get there tomorrow and they have no test results and her out patient is canceled because of it. I'll probably go postal. It's a Colonoscopy exam so that means as most already know, nothing she can eat today, the drinking of the Super Colon Blow.... etc, etc. The exam isn't until 2 tomorrow. That's a long time without being able to eat. Just more hoops to jump thru to add to the worries.
I was able to get a hair cut yesterday but no Beardicon trims by Governors order (so I was told) Mask off for hair cut, but can't trim your beard ? This after pulling a number tag outside and sitting in the truck until my number came up. Afterwards stopped by the gun store to pick up a replacement revolver and stood shoulder to shoulder with the crowd inside. One other guy was wearing a mask like I was. Everyone else no mask, I counted 16 in all to include the workers there. Seems 'The Rules' are different depending on where you are or what side of the county your in.
Don't know what to believe anymore. Numbers, averages, and polls can be flip flopped in any direction to achieve the results they desire.

A worrying time Charlie, not a great time for hospital appointments, hang in there mate.

The situation in the UKicon is stable, but unfortunately there's a hardcore of the population (about 10%) who refuse to follow the safety advice and rules and will, as a result, just keep the virus in circulation.

A hard core of 'stupidity' (substitute your own word here as required) are classic Darwinism cases, unfortunately these dim witted fools, put us all at risk.

My heart just sank when I saw the situation going sideways in Australiaicon.

Only a vaccine will finally stop this madness.

I am starting to receive telephone calls from my doctors to do virtual appointments. This is something to check out with your health insurance before committing to the "virtual" visit. Not only do the doctor's charge you the full rate for the doctor's visit your health insurance may not cover the virtual visit to the doctor's and you can be out several hundred dollars out of pocket.

Up date on the gun shop, we stopped doing by appointment only and are permitting walk ins. I am absolutely amazed by some of the customers that I am getting. Still asking for items which we do not have and have not had for the past 3 months. Even after explaining to them, there is no product at the distributors and none to be had, they still want to place an order! They do not believe there is any crisis. Well, that may be in their minds but other folks think differently. Some "live dinosaur eggs" came in on Tuesday, Glock 17s and Glock 19s, only a few. Also two NJ compliant S&W MP15 5.56mm AR platforms, which did not stay 5 minutes!! People are starting a run on ammunition. .22LR is short supply again. With the "Defund the Police", the gang bangers in the inner cities are embolden to commit more gun violence and killing anyone in the line of fire. The politicians are blaming the guns, not the gang bangers. People are starting to smarten up to the reality in the inner cities the police and politicans only control that piece of ground they stand on. The innocent folks that live in the inner cities are starting to arm themselves and wise up to the political BS. We are living in interesting times to say the least. Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Isn't it a great Chinese curse to wish someone to live in interesting times?
I think I heard or read it somewhere time ago. Now I can really appreciate it

    So interesting these times...indeed...

It's getting real now. They are running out of aluminum cans for beer and soda. Apparently it's because of the beer drinkers not going to restaurants and bars and drinking it in mugs.

I've noticed shortages on a lot of things now, different than the beginning when it was certain food items. Now it's more durable goods. Walking through Walmart there are a lot of shelve that are not stocked well. My wife has been trying to get a specific type of ginger ale for several days now and has been in a couple of different supermarkets. She asked me to check in Walmart when I was there. They didn't have it either except three packs of the tiny cans which we don't buy. She later discovered what was going on as a supermarket chain put up signs which I think is probably a mistake because people will now start hoarding soda and beer. Apparently glass and plastic bottles are not an issue yet.

Another thing that I've been wondering about. I think we can all figure out this is going to be a permanent change in many of our daily life experiences. Most stores are all closing early now. 8:00-8:30 when before they were open 24 hours. Will they even go back? Or will they figure out as I have suspected for years, that they can make more money only being open for a set period of time. That people will shop when they can during the open hours so no need for those late night, early morning open times.

Same thing here, it was like government wanted to re-engineer our lives and slow everything down. All people have to do is go back to life, just stop being curtailed.
