The urban areas will have big problems here with unrest. The general concern everywhere else is that they will soon migrate out thinking they will take what they want from who they can get it from and that isn't going to go very well. The rural areas are extremely well armed. Of course this is all Stephen King novel fodder. Doubt it will come to that. I am not a prepper so to speak but we have two freezers full of food and semi-stocked pantrys. Just the way I grew up. Obviously well armed although 60 different calibers isn't the best to organize.

I just checked on the availability of ammo this evening. The cheapest bulk 5.56 Nato ammo is 10 cents more per round than it was last night when I bought it. Not really that the price went up, it's just that all the cheaper dealers are sold out. A local small shop is now cutting hours, the background checks are running an hour now and they caught two people trying to buy that couldn't pass the check today. They stopped selling ammo unless you are purchasing a gun. They have plenty of guns. The ammo with gun policy is because if they keep selling ammo, guys buying guns won't have any and that just makes their expensive purchase a fancy paperweight.

It's still calm however. People are not screaming in protest, I see kids playing in their yards, a lot of people walking their dogs, etc. Nothing dramatic happening in the news.

I was away with work but happy 50th Ovidio the weather looks pretty good for you as well.

Out state has banned internal gatherings of 50 people and 500 outside, I did see something on the different states penalties and think this relates possibly to a lock down if your caught outside in the open in public and not staying at home and here in Western Australiaicon the govt can impose a $50,000 fine or 12 months in jail or even both!
Shops are allowing 1 hour in the morning for seniors and persons with disabilities but this is hard for someone who may be old and infirm to go out and risk catching Covid-19 and they only get an hour to do their shopping for some this is very hard to do, our PM has told the public to stop this stupid practice as the Police are patrolling isles in shopping centers due to violence over effing bog rolls a waste of a valuable resource.
Honestly if this is a taste at the very begining when the virus has not really hit full tilt (expected to in a few months) then we are in deep sh*t because the mentality of people will degenerate even further and who knows what may happen I feel justified in my approach to protecting my property and my family as anyone uninvited is not my friend and may have ill intent as I elaborated with what happened to the old couple over east.
I'm cool with being locked in with my family as I have plenty of books to read, gas cookers and plenty of cycl gas in the shed, 2 full home 80Kg gas cycl (4 months of gas with normal use), batteries for torches, candles and a small genset to run the home fridge and freezer with 60L of petrol in jerry cans for it as well as a car fridge freezer topping the cars up when they hit 1/2 a tank.

All we can do is to find a rliable source about whats going on the news is just scaremongering and not improving the situation, the govt will pay $750/person on the dole in a couple of weeks a 1 off but how are they to stretch $750 for 6+ months thats $31.25/week extra you have with trying to get what you may need anyway something is better than a pointy stick in the eye I suppose.

    Happy 50th Ovidio
Things are really looking positive. India may have a solution, our Cambridge University may also be very close to a vaccine as is a company in the U.S.

Be assurred, EVERYBODY is looking for the solution and it will come and we'll all be back on the range doing what we do best.
In the meantime, stay safe and listen to the experts advice.

My brother in law said it is because everyone standing next to someone who sneezes has an explosive bowel movement in their pants.

    And happy 50th!
And thanks for the real world assessment of our current dilemma. I feel better informed following this thread than
    watching the news all evening.

Thanks. You can’t imagine how glad I am that this thread is somehow helping. We’re between 1 and 3 weeks ahead of the rest of the western world in this bloody situation, but I see that lots of countries are still making our same mistakes, not exploiting the many lessons learned...
Let’s hold on and do our best to get out of it!

Apparently...when the last panic was in China, they were using it to make face masks. They were using everything including sanitary products. So the story goes, then here people forgot that part of the story.
