I experienced a couple more cases of "Human Magnetism Syndrome" today while walking to work this morning and returning home this evening. I would never have thought that the human body could acquire such powerful magnetic properties, such that those affected, are liable to be deflected 90 degrees from their intended direction, on the pavement, into the middle of the road. I would suggest that passing another human being, walking in the opposite direction, on the pavement carries somewhat minimal risk to life, despite the virus. However, I would suggest that walking in the middle of the road because one is paranoid about catching the virus carries a somewhat grater risk to one's well being.

Personally I currently have 2 vulnerable elderly people living in my house and one has lung cancer. Currently I am expected to continue to go out to work every day. My way of dealing with the matter is to follow official advice and wear my respirator when going into shops but not to panic. My main concern is that if and when I do get the virus I don't pass it on to others' especially my older relatives.

That's inevitable, you can't possibly contain it on a vessel the size of a Nimitz class and it's enormous crew compliment.

It would be widely spread before anyone reasised it was on board.

I guess they have no option but to to let it burn out....

At least the crew mainly consists of fit youngsters, that's a blessing.

Not quite Clarky this virus is now knocking off young people the other day a 14 y/o passed away and I think a 6 week old baby has perished as well we can only hope they can contain it as best they can seeing as that class of carrier is front line it would be a nightmare as think of the interactions sailors can have moving around a ship that size, its most likely going to be a wild fire on there in 3-4 days time.
On a bit of a lighter note Qld is banning sunbaking at the beach as it is not considered exercise and those not compliant can be fined $1300/AUD umm like I said non compliance in West Au is $50,000/AUD or a year in jail this is a great motivator for people faced with that type of penalties.

All the best to you all in your respective countries keep safe stick to your plans if you have not got one then your leaving it a bit late plan ahead for this thing as its not going to go away over night

I weep to think of the Noosa Heads and Surfer's Paradise deserted of all that nubile bare flesh...a ghost town in each case. Sad, summer gone.

I went out for an early run at the supermarket today.
We are putting together a group of families that will take care of another one where everybody has been laid off. They live here, just a couple hundred meters from us, and that is really a very disturbing feeling. Here, in a very wealthy area of the country, people who do not have the means for putting something on the table...
    Very bad feeling.

Some very interesting initiatives have been popping up from everywhere.
Here we have the "hanging basket", in a peripheral part of Milan, where there are quite some low-income families. Who can, puts something in the basket...who needs, picks up something. I love it. It is a clear sign of mutual help and respect. Anonymous and respectful.

During my "shopping", I happened to enter the line with TP, so I thought about sending you this picture, just to tease you a bit...

You see, all "essentials" are to be found in great quantity. I didn't even bother buying some

    Take care folks!

We went out last night to pick up a few things and came back with very few. The picture you show wasn't there at the market we went to, empty shelves still. It seems people still have to hoard because they can't grasp the pattern here. The stores are open and being resupplied. Can't say how the worse off are going to make out, we just had an extension of stay-at-home until end Apr. Line up outside Costco, huge Chinese based grocery chain...was numbered at about one hundred at 1930 hrs and they close at 2030 hrs... We took a pass and went to a smaller store.

Today's information about our neighbour family has opened my eyes. I'm not a kid, so I imagined that there would be lots of families facing hardships, but that close and that personal...well, that I did not expect. We are a small and tightly knit community, and I'm sure they will be held above water by all of us.

The hoarding is really a basic, instinctive move that is totally senseless. It only heightens the risk of escalating the situation, but I see in these weeks, that there are people who simply are not able to think clearly anymore. They are mentally paralysed by an atavic fear and just act.
I don't really like being in close company of such people. I keep thinking that a "spark" could bring them to start a fire.
The small stores are a wonderful thing, I agree.
It would be important not to forget them after the storm, and help them stay afloat. Big chains are potentially a bottleneck, and raise the risk in such situations. Apart from the quality of many fresh products, this is generally higher in smaller shops. Also more expensive, but they have a great social function, keeping the neighbourhoods from becoming dormitories only.
Politicians should tear themselves apart trying to bring the message to everybody that the world is not going to end, that shops are and will keep being supplied, and that everybody should just arm themselves with a lot of patience and tolerance.
    And arm themselves...

    All the best, gentlemen!

Ah, we're third now. Spain has overtaken us. I feel a lot for our cousins...

Here in smalltown Ontario you would normally recognize everyone in the local grocery store but with the Covid 19 outbreaks in larger urban centres there is now an influx of the urbanites into the smaller communities seeking less crowded facilites. For weeks in a row now as I drive past the local store at 7 am there are countless cars in the parking lot where normally I could walk into the store alone save for a few employees. And yes the toilet paper hoarders have reaked havoc here as well.
The local grocer has taken to keeping the TP supply out of sight of the hoarders and if a recognizable local should happen to ask about stock at the checkout they will send a bagger to stores to supply your needs, none of this panic buying of skids of TP. Flour and Broths seem to be in high demand as well as paper towels I have taken to buying frozen fruit and vegetables instead of fresh after watching people fondle the fresh produce. Just waiting for a rush on the liquor and beer stores, thankfully we have an agency store in my small community. As an essential service I have been called out on several emergency jobs over the last few days and before attending the facilities to complete the repairs I have to comply with a number of plant protocalls before showing up including supplying my own pen to sign work permits and presenting security with written details of plant contacts requesting work, estimated time for completion, verification of no present symptoms, all performed while holding the paperwork up against a window. We would normally be on our way to Calgary come Sunday to attend Canadas largest gun show put on by th AACCA at Easter but like everything else thats been cancelled , gun show withdrawal is a terrible thing and as a result of constantly cleaning and Ioiling my guns I'm starting to worry about rubbing off the finish Ha Ha.
    Good luck to all!!!

Gun shops still closed cannot sell anything apart from knives, clothes etc but whats the use, we cannot go fishing as thats recreational I may argue the point of supplimenting our diet with Omega 5 then again I could set myself up for failure exercising is allowed maybe I'll have my wife run up and down the beach whilst I fish saying building up my injured back muscles by casting!
We are waiting to watch this doco on the Ruby Princess ship that disembarked 2700 passengers in NSW and just created chaos and is being blamed for the severeness of the outbreak in Au heads will roll over this, went to the shop today no sugar, no minced garlic, no poop paper, very little baked beans, hardly any bread and so it goes on I did jag some hand sanitiser like there were 5 bottles of it I thought I was dreaming just grabbed 1 as thats all we need at home plus some more soap.
Life trickles on our hard boarder lock down starts Sunday and I have a new gig starting Monday I am trying to figure a safe way to do the morning breatho's think we will go for a wall mounted unit and have the hand held for any failures believe me guys still turn up under the weather instead of staying home if you fail the first then the conformitory one on another machine 15 minutes later and it is not .000 then bloke your sacked, had to sack 6 guys on the last job idiots! (Not all at once!)

I'm glad your doing what your doing Ovidio looking out for each other sadly we cannot do the bucket here as the greedy would take the lot bucket included I do not know when the paradigm will shift or end but peoples minds are appocalyptic yes its gunna get bad but its not as if we have had 2000 nuclear weapons thrown around that would be bad we will come through this, but the future will be a different model and take generations to become stable again if you borrow you gotta pay it back.
And whilst its good they have frozen rents & taxes and bank loans trust me when the clouds clear the banks will want it back and then some so poor ol joe blow gets through this only to find his mortgage has grown and its added another 2-3 years to his loan yeah the good ol banks!
