It appears people have had enough of the shutdown. Yesterday was a really weird day. We left the house in the morning to go plant our garden which is at the church. Roto-tiller sheared a bolt after 1 foot. I was not happy but headed across town to Agway for a new one. Drove past another hardware store along the way. Parking lot was packed. Agway parking lot was so full I almost went elsewhere but I knew they had the bolt so I went in. checkout lines with 15 people in them going both left and right. Parts department had numerous people waiting. I was there about 20 minutes for a stupid bolt. Went back to the garden finished tilling and planted and then we took off for a greenhouse for tomatoe plants. Crested the hill and it was a OMG moment. The road on both sides had cars parked in the grass for 100 yards before and past the property. The parking lots were full. My wife says, lets just go and I told her she should come Monday. But as I slowly drove by, I didn't see a line for the checkout so I found a place for the car went over and OMG, the line had at least 40 people in it. It exited the building and went past the fronts of two others. We left. Supermarkets have been full all weekend. Wife asked if there was another shortage. There isn't that I'm aware of, I just think people want out and are going to whatever is open. Our smaller businesses are a mixed bag, some opened some did not but those that were were frequented. Maybe it's just the refreshing feeling of freedom or defiance, who knows. The fearful of course are all complaining we are all going to die now. It's like since everyone else is out, they have to go out. I actually got in an argument with a woman that says its not fair because she can't go shopping so everyone else should suffer. I told her, the stores will deliver, the stores will bring the stuff to your car, you can get family and friends to shop for you. Her counter, some people don't have friends and family or cars. Not sure what she expects. If that's the case, how did she get her groceries before the shutdown. No explanation.

I thought that could be ridiculous...It was moving instead.

---------- Post added at 11:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:21 AM ----------

    Now, back to business.

    Three big news.

    1) the government did relent and had to bow to the regions. They are telling the story that it was a long discussion, hard bargaining and at the end they were all happy to find an agreement. Truth is, the government suddenly found itself "surrounded". All regions and all productive categories told them they were killing the economy. So, in the end, a few rules less (we're still full of exceptions and stupid rules, but it is definitely better than before), social distancing at 1 metre for all businesses, not 2 metres here, 1.5 there, 1.2 over there and 1 over there instead... I have re-rated the word "expert" in my own dictionary!!!

    2) I can go everywhere without any reason within my region now. One of the coming days I'll take the day off and have a long motorcycle ride up and down the Alps. We have enough mountains to be able to stay within Friuli and still have tons of fun.

    3) the ranges have opened again starting from today. One of the next days I'll take another half day and go shooting. I feel the need for that exercise in concentration...

    4) I made carbonara and will post all the info asap.

In Franceicon they have a 100km travel limit from your residence (as the crow flies). Turns out house is 98.5 kms from the apartment. Roads were empty Friday evening leaving Paris.
Never seen it so empty. Had a great weekend due to the lovely weather.
Also we decided to have an Air Rifle Sniper match. 10 metre rifle targets. One shot only for my daughter, my wife and myself. No practice, just one cold shot each.
My 9 year old daughter won! she shot an 8, I got a 7 and the missus was in the 6!

Apparently our Governor put his foot in the health departments a$$ after they counted a guy as a Wuhan flu death when he drank himself to death (.55 BAC) but was infected...Death count went from just over 1200 to a touch under 900.

I'm quite certain that's a common occurrence everywhere. I'm not aware of ANYONE here that has or had it...yet here we sit.

Yes we are derestricting pretty quickly there are no camping spots down south of Perth available period we await with baited breath the invasion of the rude and ignorant who are not abreast of country mannerisms and manners.
I know our holiday parks and various animal farms are hurting and fair call they need their business its just the push past you getouta my way that infuriates me, like the other day a bloke forgot his wallet my wife recogised him but could not place him so she paid the $60/Aud bait bill for him much to the check out girls suprise.

She kept saying are you sure my wife said yep no probs she twigged later she had worked with him he paid my wife back and two days later we had a short in the house I called a local electrician which turned out to be him he twigged as we have a french last name (Not escargo either chaps?) anyway he did not charge us to fix it as he remembered who had helped him.
I mean a couple of months ago we paid for a senior citizens food for her at the check out as she was a pensioner so we decided to treat her so she could perhaps have a treat herself we owe allot to the older generations we are the lucky ones maybe not at this point but in the past we have not wanted like they have so the wheel of life goes on.

Speaking of wheels last Sunday here is a shot at a place where there is a shop still trading from the turn of the century and it is like a time machine inside, my bike is the shiney blue one center the 1100XX Super Blackbird and my wifes pearl white red rimmed Ducati Supersport is near it, I had a play with the Ducati Diavel but he was just a tad to slow on the corners so I went bye.........!

Here is the recipe for carbonara.
    Very important: the ingredients!
It will not be easy to find a couple of them, but very high quality substitutes could allow good results.

First of all,you need a good “guanciale”. Guanciale is cheek bacon. Marinated in black pepper. A lot of it. Carbonara owes its name to the black colour of pepper, which looks like coal (carbone in Italianicon).
Cut it into thin slices and then in small sticks, like such.Attachment 108278
    Attachment 108279Attachment 108280

Then put everything in a hot pan. Possibly strewn so that no piece overlaps the others. This way, the guanciale will cook through correctly. It gets transparent all through when it cooks correctly.
This piece of meat will release a lot of grease, so you’ll need no further oil or other stuff. Let it go until it gets crispy. Don’t burn it, just get close to it.
    Attachment 108281
In the meantime, you’ll have started heating water. When it boils, add coarse salt as necessary.
Beside that, you’ll prepare the eggs. One egg per person, plus one for the table. In our case, we were four last day, so we had five eggs. Mix them and then add pecorino romano or parmigiano/grana. Be generous. And mix well.
    Attachment 108282Attachment 108283Attachment 108284
When the spaghettis (use high quality ones, with coarse surface) are still almost cracking, you can take them out of the pot and into the frying pan with guanciale. Let a bit of cooking water go too. Turn and mix until the water has almost completely evaporated. A last bit of cooking water goes into the egg/cheese cream. Mix.
    Attachment 108285
Let everyting quiet and covered for a couple minutes, in order to reduce the heat on the spaghettis, then pour the eggs on them and mix, so that you don’t get an omelette on your pasta.
    Attachment 108286
Serve with a good, dry white wine.
    And enjoy life, my friends!
    Attachment 108287

Like many Italian recipes, carbonara is simple. It just needs first class ingredients and some tecnique.
    Enjoy!

Great! Tomorrow, from 15:00 to 16:00 fire in the hole!
200 metres. I'll take mi M17 and something else I have to figure out.
    We get rolling again!

Today, since half or Europe took the day off after yesterday's festivity, I'll go with my second daughter for a long motorbike ride up the mountains.

The situation for the Covid.. Ah yes, that thing is still on...
Well, I try not to listen too much to what is being said, because the situation is grave, but not serious anymore.
The government is making war against Lombardy because it is governed by the national opposition.
So, let's kill the chicken that makes the golden eggs for the whole of Italyicon.
Economic relief measures? Written in ancient Aramaic and with reference to hundreds of old laws, regulations, decisions, etc, so...ineffective.
    Immigration? Perfectly uncontrolled.
Social situation...searing, boiling, still controllable, but for how long?
We will hit a wall. A concrete wall. It is not going to be funny in a few weeks.
Europe? Better than expected, but the expectations were very low. So, still not enough also there.
I need to travel for business, our technicians need to do it for installations, maintenance, but we don't know where we can go, how to do it etc.
So, we just ask for assignment letters from the customers, stating that our personnel is relevant for the system/process and send everybody out. They all arrive without being controlled. But what will happen as soon as someone will be stopped and controlled?
    Who knows...
This is important for the economy. That should be one of those things that the EU should regulate in a simple and clear way, but it's not happening.
Some economic relief measures, but with lots of caveats and unclear bonds, so that all those who don't like the EU can cry and curse and all those who are absolute europeists can cheer and celebrate.
    And normal people understand d*ick...

One hour and I'll ride off.

Agree Jim, especially if COVID-19 money attached to it.
