Even though increased testing is causing overall numbers to go up, the number of people in ICU's, on Ventilators and dying is rising disproportionately in many areas-- it's not a hoax. I see mention of the "Greatest Generation" on many of the firearms related forums that I frequent. They went to war, went to work in factories, gave up meat and gasoline so it would be available to our troops, collected metal and raised vegetables in their gardens to ease shortages. We're being asked to wear a mask and act like it's the end of the world. No one will say we're the Greatest Generation

Agreed to the posts above. It’s been a continual source of amusement to me..the logic of the “cases are going up because of more testing” crowd.

Like, imagine if ten untested but contagious people went to a high school graduation with a thousand people. Well praise the Lord they weren’t tested or their cases would've increased the total!

If folks have it, they have it. More testing invariably increases the KNOWN amount of people that have it. If we didn’t test, there’d still be people out there spreading it.

The WW2 rationing analogy is fantastic.

Now if we could just get the protesters, rioters, looters, and the partiers to wear masks we'd be on our way to a good start. But we live in a time where ' I'll do as I please' and anything else is infringing on my rights.
Anyone seriously think most living today would go through what Our Greatest Generation Did? No way in H3ll. You'd be robbed of your goods.

And If They Find A Vaccine For Covid-19, Keep This In Mind:
Remember the people that Refuse To Vaccinate Their Children.
According to a study by The WHO in 2019:
The WHO has recently named vaccine hesitancy as one of the world’s top 10 global health threats of 2019.
Vaccine hesitancy is defined as the reluctance or refusal to vaccinate despite the availability and access to vaccines. It threatens to reverse any progress that has been made over the years in tackling vaccine-preventable diseases.

Vaccination is considered one of the most cost-effective ways of avoiding the spread of disease. Currently, 2-3 million deaths a year are prevented by vaccinations, and a further 1.5 million could potentially be avoided if the global coverage of vaccines were to be improved. However, despite the overwhelming evidence available to us at our fingertips, we seem to be going backwards.

For instance, measles, a highly contagious and sometimes even deadly disease was considered eradicated in the US in 2000. Yet, 2019 has begun with some of the worst outbreaks seen in recent years.

    Covid Remains After Cleaning:
In my words as best remembered because I- Can't find the link right now, but was reading how a complete Hospital in China was deemed 'Completely Sterilized' and clear of any remnants on the Covid-19 Virus. Upon a follow up test the air returns and duct work along with the complete HVAC system was found Positive at a high level.

Further testing resulted in finding that sneezing fine microscopic droplets indoors with recirculated air could carry 15' + depending on location to the out going vents or over head fans.

    My Point is:
We better take this serious. I've lost 1 family member, nearly 2.
I spent most of my working career wearing a mask some more won't bother me.

No, it isn't a hoax but the politicians have turned it into one. People do continue to die, they are dying in increased numbers in some locations but in none of those areas is it out of control. Our governor has once again placed restrictions on the entire state when we had 17 deaths yesterday. This is complete bullshit. Our hospitals are not overwhelmed anywhere, yet he is relying solely on the number of new cases which again is bullshit. Bars have been told they much shut down unless they have a menu and are serving meals with the drinks. What reasoning is there for this? Most bars simply created a menu of 50 cent items that can be purchased with a drink. These range from a plate of chips to a hotdog. You apparently can get sick simply drinking a beer but if you have food with it, you can't. This is politician logic and this is where the hoax comes from. The greatest generation would have looked at this and said, "shut down the government, HELL NO" because that's what their parents actually did. The Spanish flu killed MILLIONS and covid is sitting a 602,000 deaths worldwide with a population 4.33 times the size. The low end of the Spanish flu is 17.5 million dead. In today's population figures that amounts to 75.8 million people. See the problem yet? Say we spread that 602,000 out over 2 years. Been six months now, so multiply it by four. 2.4 million dead world wide. Then there is the extimated high for the Spanish flu, 100 million people. In today's numbers that's 433 million deaths. This is not the Spanish Flu, it isn't anywhere close.

As the firgures we are getting here from our news show the Covid - 19 deaths in the USAicon at 138,000 with freezer trucks being employed to take the passed persons away with 100,000 new cases. One way or the other the figures if availible should show if porkies are being told this should discount MVA's as they are a seperate entity to what we are trying to fathom here. TIA
There is a site that produces a 5 year average for deaths by day in the US. I have seen it and reported it here a few times. When I can locate it again I will do so. There was only a short period during the peak of this that this years numbers were higher than that average. For a few days, they were significantly higher. Other than that period, it has been lower than average.

This website shows a daily run down since this started: https://covidtracking.com/data/us-daily. At the peak we had tested 4.2 million people and had 813,000 cases and 59,000 hospitalized. Today we have tested 45 million people, have 3.7 million cases and 58,000 hospitalizations. So we have fewer in the hospital now than we did they with over 10 times the confirmed cases. One thing to remember is then the vast majority of these hospitalizations was concentrated in one state, New York. Today it is spread all over the nation. The media reported "hot spots" are no where near what was going on in New York then. And even New York's health system was never overwhelmed. New York survived because there was a moratorium on hospitalizations nation wide. They were all closed to non-essential service and reserved for for Covid. New York's hospitals then were nearly all Covid cases. The "overwhelmed" hospitals today are 30% covid cases.

The US has 944,000 hospital beds by the way. Obviously spread out all over and concentrated in the larger municipalities but Covid follows the same spread. So Covid is tying up about 6% of our total capacity.

What really ticks me off is that if you go outside, drive around, or walk around some locations, life is going on as normal or at near normal levels yet certain governors are freaking out, attempting to shut things down even more. I still do not know a single person personally that actually had Covid. That's not died from, not hospitalized from, I know of no one who has tested positive for it.

The fear is there, it's easy to create and maintain because you naturally want to believe and respond in certain ways. I think much of this is complete crap. Yesterday I went to a wedding with my wife, one daughter and her husband. I didn't want to go. I hate weddings and barely knew the girl getting married but I figured I better go to make sure my wife didn't get carried away and get infected. I asked if there was going to be spacing, etc and was assured this had all been taken care of. It wasn't. People were packed in like sardines and spacing outside of the wedding itself was maybe 3 feet at best. I was nervous for much of the evening. But life went on, they celebrated, I eventually relaxed. There were only a couple of older people there, they didn't wear masks, they didn't distance themselves. The Greatest Generation which is so often mentioned has told this virus to screw off for the most part. The attitude I hear from those I've talked to if they are even paying attention to it is "if I get it, I get it, if I die, I die, I've had a good life."

And what do I see from my generation? A fictitious garbage post supposedly penned by Dr Fauci comparing Chicken Pox, HIV and Herpes to Covid 19 because they are all viruses and the first three never really go away so if I want to hide in my basement and make you hide in your basement, I'm right and you're wrong and there's no debate on it.

I've said all along I'm a numbers guy but I don't gamble, I don't ride helicopters for fun, I don't sky dive, I don't race or ride motorcycles. All in all I'm a fair cautious guy. I do ride roller coasters with my hands in the air, I do leave the house in the morning, and I travel in cars extensively. I am wearing a mask when I go shopping but not outdoors and I have no real fear of shopping. This virus is much more contagious than the seasonal flu, about 8 times more so from the data I've seen. But the death rate is now lower, despite having reported high numbers at the beginning, it almost all from older people Yet even in those over age 80, the mortality rate is still only 18%. That's a significant percentage to be sure but there are a lot of people out there, young people, that believe if they get this they are going to die. And that belief is completely from what the politicians and the media is telling them.

Recently read that Nursing homes and Assisting living facilities account for 40% to 45% of US COVID-19 deaths. As of updated article on July 14th.

How to Track COVID-19 Nursing Home Cases and Deaths in Your State is put out my AARP listings by state, many broken down by county:
Track COVID-19 Nursing Home Cases, Deaths in Your State

Texas nursing home COVID-19 cases jump 60 percent since July 1. Is this why there is such a increase in overall cases?
