You have two separate threads running on this subject, right? That's a double post. Message a moderator and have him combine them.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Take this advice from some one who went down the road of a fairly long length getting a 1916 MkIII no star Lithgowicon back to what it would have left the factory or 99.9% correct I am pretty sure the wood was original but there were other things that were not like it was missing the complete dumbell safety catch and magazine as well as the sling, piling swivel.
Trying to run down the very early Lithgow star marked bits and pieces like an early mag and floor plate/spring lithow 7 pointed star stamped turned into a I think nearly 10 year odyssey the hardest was the early star piling swivel like they are just non existent along with the mid band as well thank goodness the bolt, receiver and nose cap were all the same and I do believe the furniture was original to the rifle thank god plus a Lithgow 1916 scabbard and Lithgow 5MD '07 Bayonet.
It cost me 8 times what the rifle cost as it only cost me $100/Au the 3 most costly items the mag/floorplate & spring and the Wrights 1916 black (Not blanco'ed sling) so if you decide to go down this road its not going to happen overnight and be prepared to troll the internet web sites relentlessly as these items when they come up go quickly and another one takes a long time to come back you also have to get it in the right condition.....................!
