    First Type 99

Hi all, I acquired a Type 99 i was hoping i could get some info on. It appears to be numbers matching with mum intact. The stock has been sporterized but other than that it looks to be original to include the finish. From what research I have done I am guessing it is a series 24 Kokura Arsenal made rifle. I am not sure how to determine the year of manufacture however.

1944. Just google "Arisakaicon manufacture dates" and you fill find a multi-colored chart under "Images." Its pretty easy to read. New wood for 99's is usually kind of expensive but for that gun I think it would be worth it since the numbers match (including the firing pin?).

If you're looking to replace the wood, make sure you find a same series rifle with small recoil lug bolt in stock. The lower butt-stock proofs had been removed by this time.
