I was planning on removing the complete foresight block and leaving the barrel full length unless it impinged so much on the line of sight that shoot was very difficult. I was also going to start with the hand-guard removed and the fore-end left full length. I'm trying to resist doing anything that's irreversible, bar some drilled and tapped holes.

Well, story is the rifle "went missing" from the museum where it was displayed(?) and the plaque resurfaced later.

There was a story put about that the rifle was "destroyed in a fire", so the condition of the plaque is material to that.

If you've got a decent, complete full length MkIII there I would not D&T myself; severe loss of value would result.. There should be some cut downs out there yet.

I`ve heard a couple other stories as well. Hopefully the rifle turns up someday.
