Exclamation Beware - possible scam by Jason*

I've been advised by members usabaker and Promo to check the following new member.

Member Jason* joined March 23rd at 11:26 pm using email address albertjsaon987@gmail.com.

He's already sent dozens of PM's (Private Messages) for different items to other members here, redirecting them to contact someone in Chicago at email richardboyd025@gmail.com

I have deleted ALL of his PM's.

Note: To reduce fraudulent activity, we do not allow re-direction selling on our site, which means using our PM (Private Messaging) system instructing another member to contact third parties at a different email address than the one registered with our site. Only direct sales from our WTS/WTB/WTT classifieds area. Anyone doing this will be immediately banned for life without any recourse.

    Another bait and switch scam.

    I've have permanently banned him.

Thanks for the heads up usabaker and Promo.

    Regards,
    Doug

I wonder if it's just one individual that's got us in his sights to try and glean what he can? We had none of this and now it's repetitive.

Would it be possible to put a brake in the software? Something on the lines of a new member not being able to use the PM function for a probationary period and not before making several contribution to the forums?

    I'm looking at options.

There is one now, where a registered member has to make at least one (1) public post before they can send a PM to anyone.

That's the point of the "Welcome Thread".

    Regards,
    Doug

You could either set the limit to 5 posts which makes it a bit more work for them to do this, or if software allows it to like set the time between PM to 1 hour in the first month after registration.

As an ex Detective, AND as the use of my family name on the redirected emails ie richardboyd025@gmail.com, are being used, I am taking a vested interest from over the pond.

I have some good friends in the FBI and Chicago PD specifically as I worked there on attachment, so if these two guys, probably the same person, do not dissist from their criminal activity, they could face a knock on their door!

You CANNOT hide if you use the internet!!!
