What is it quiz #1 by Steve762

Hey Guys, Steve762 from Northern Ohio USAicon.

Not to make light of the current global pandemic but I think most of us would like to see an increase in new threads on the board. I would like to propose that we start a "What Is It" thread. Post a good pic of an interesting or un-common item and ask the question "what is it"? After a few days post an answer with additional pics if necessary. While many of the items will be old news to some members it will be a great way to increase knowledge across the membership.

Here is my What is It #1.
Only hint is that this item is mill spec and not of commercial production.

Aiming corrector. It snaps onto the rear sight so the shooting coach can see exactly what the shooter's sight picture is.
    Regards, Jim

Correct Jim Aim corrector ~ The corrector attaches to the rifle at a point behind the rear sight, the coach lays to one side pretty much level with the shooter and at 90 degrees to him the shooter can look through the perspex to get the sight picture whilst the coach can see reflected in the perspex due to the angle of it the exact sight picture the shooter is seeing and can coach them on getting it right.

Not sure of what weapon it would fit I have ones for the No1 MkIII & No.4. there is a plethora of them of different designs but they all do the same thing.

    BAR and CINDERS are correct.
It is a US military circa 1952, Device, Aiming, M2 for the M-1 Rifle.
Used to teach correct sight alignment and sight picture.
Can be used on the M-14 and M1Aicon too. Pics attached.
