    What is it #4.
This is an as-issued military item. How is it used?
    Hint: Un-common in the USAicon.

Germanicon bore wicks for the HK 7.62 and 9mm weapons.
For the 9mm the entire bundle is inserted in the eye of the pull through chain and for the 7.62 only 3 or 4 strands are used.

Germanicon military bore wicks. Their version of bore cleaning patches. Used by the German Army in WWII and post war.
Attached pic: The cleaning kit on the left is for the G3 and the one on the right is the WWII 98 Mauser version. Nicknamed the "tobacco can". The pull through chain was nicknamed the "rosary".
