    Danish Ammo

I have been loading Garandicon clips over the past couple of weeks and what I have is PPU Garand ammo. Ran out of that last night and pulled out the Danishicon ammo that I have and the bullets are set about a quarter inch deeper than the PPU. Is this normal? Are they OK or is the PPU loaded wrong? I have shot the PPU and it worked fine.

Been a while since I've had any but dont recall the OAL being that much different from any other m2 ball. It's high quality and I never had any sort of problems with it.
The bullets have a cannelure so I'd say if its visible they're fine.

Are you talking 30-06 or .308 Steve?

30-06 I have two boxes of them. I'll take a photo of the two types side by side and post it.

Danishicon is on the left, PPU on the right.

    It's marked AMA 61.

I did a search on the headstamp and found a photo comparing it to Greek ammo and the Danish looks about the same next to the Greek as it does to the PPU so I guess this is normal.

It's a slightly different bullet profile isn't it? Looks like it's more rounded so that would account for the short OAL I guess.

Its not the Over All Lenth for these to that make them shootable or not, it where the OGIVE sits. The two bullets have a different profile but are set at the correct distance for chambering and distance to where the ogive engages the riflings. My bet is, if you put these on a comparator tool bullet ogive seating depth between these two rounds will be near to the same.

Curious, They might also be two different bullet weights. Be interesting to see what weight difference a scale shows.

I shoot both Danish M2 and Priv Partizan in my Garand, I reckon Prvi is a shade better in terms of grouping, but both function well. The advantage of Danish ammo for me is that it is a good deal cheaper.

I too would be interested to see a comparison between the two bullets if possible...

Did you notice the same length difference?
