A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Correct: Cal .50 case separation and a live round feed into the stuck case. From a M2 MG.

Saw this many times in the old days on MG ranges with the 1919A4 and M2 .50 browning. Stop, unload and headspace and time... It usually came after a new barrel broke in and changed it's tolerance.

You can use the same principle on a Lee enfield as a field expedient for a case separation whilst not recommended as its better to have the correct remover on hand as all 303 shooters should it does work but you may end up with a bigger problem if it doesn't I've never tried it and don't intend to but its just what I have heard over the years on various forums.

Agreed, use the separated case remover, as shown in the other post. This would be how we knew what the stoppage was. Cock the weapon and find this on the case. .303 sometimes comes out but I always took the tool in my spares to the range.

Had a similar accident happen several years ago while using Portugese manufactured .763 Mauser ammunition in my C96 pistol. In my instance the case sheared at the neck, chambered a second round, fired and upon recoil tore the face off the bolt on either side of the extractorLeaving the jammed case in the chamber.
