After you raised the Pegasus Bridge "find". I have spoken now to both Museum Directors at Pegasus Bridge and Airborne Assault Duxford, and Bob Hilton who knows everything Operation Market and Garden, and especially Pegasus Bridge, and there is absolutely no record of a No5 rifle being found at or near the bridge for your information.

First thing all three said was, a tad early for a No5 in September 1944 anywhere near Europe as all were sent to the Far East.
Where did the source come from?

The rifle is dated 1942 on the butt socket...
As I said I have no info on it other that I have owned it for probably 35 plus years and there s no indication it was made up by a humper.
It is way to well done for a home job.
The only reference I have ever seen to it was one that was shown in relic condition that was apparently found in the vicinity of of Pegasus Bridge and was shown in the "What is it" column of Arms Review.
The spigot launcher is a recent addition (last 25 yrs) as when I got it the barrel was merely threaded.
Any info is appreciated.....
