That’s my P-One. I got it from the factory in 1996 and used it heavily in dynamic shooting competitions with the Reserve for a few years. Also my wife, so she really got tons if ammo through, but looks as new.
Great gun! 9x21 (9 para is not allowed here, ridiculous).

Never, use skateboard tape for grip on pistols. I know a guy with it covering his 1911 Springfield... That stippling thing is bogus.

As a gunsmith I do not like plastic guns either. My 'go to' 9mm is a Tanfoglio CZ75 clone, a good solid pistol that has never failed to perform.

I'm very much in the same boat. Can't stand polymer frames or striker fired. My go-to modern handguns are all Sigs. The Germanicon-made ones are worlds above if you can nab one!

Yes, my 226 Sig is an older Germanicon police cast off.

My 226 proudly says "Made in West Germany" and as usual, she performed flawlessly this morning (as did the Kar98kicon, the Type 99 and the new M1icon carbine).

Well USAicon you have got that Ruger Redhawk like I had, they are about a bullet proof as a pistol can get, me I liked my wheel guns yes they are a bit bulkier and can suffer a backed out primer stopping the cylinder at a crucial time but then again your S/A's can suffer stove pipes and double feeds.
If I had say a misfire* I don't have to bring the pistol down to rack the slide to clear the jam just roll on with the trigger keeping the same sight picture, I have fired the 1911 45ACP numerous times and whilst they are a great firearm with a long history I have never liked chasing brass all over the range. *(Not a squib load either as for either gun its off to the gunsmiths)
If you think a wheel gun may be slow Gerry Mikulek certainly had his race guns going at a great speed.

I guess it's not exactly a modern design but I bought and have carried a CZ75D PCR for over 20 years. It's accurate, has never jammed with any combination of projectiles and is no more bulky than a Glock. It also has a loaded chamber indicator and feels good in the hand straight out of the box. The alloy frame makes it light enough for me if i want a high cap 9mm. My other carry gun is a S&W 360 M&P revolver. It's super light and easy to carry. I changed the compact Hogue grips for Pachmayer compacts which are a bit more filling for the hand. I carry 110 grain .357 Magnum Winchester hollow points and it's deadly accurate. One shot is all it will take with that little hand cannon!
