    Help with M94 sling

First time poster here. I have a 1901 Swedishicon Mauser M94, that I enjoy shooting. For convenience, I would like to put a sling on it. The M94 does have a buckle installed on the stock. I really don't have any specs on the M94 sling. I don't want to just put a leather strap on it. I would like to keep it close to proper sling. Can I convert one of the reproduction M96 slings? If so, What is the proper length, etc.?
    Thanks for your time,
    Stu
