Aussie L1A1 stock marking BP 2

I recently rediscovered an old wood stock on a L1A1, lower said to be Australianicon.
It has BP 2 in white paint stenciled on it. I've seen many M16icon stocks marked with numbers or alpha codes that are said to be storage rack codes from the local armory. Maybe the same?
    Any ideas from down under?

can't give you any information on your specific stock markings, but I have a stack of Malay contact spares from scrapped rifles and many carry similar markings.

You mention the butt is still attached to the TMH, let me know the S/N and I can give you the contact.

Usually just like you think, simple rack number. Storage specifics.

I had AD6401676 back in 1980...ratty bore in the front half but still shot OK. Yes, upper and lower should be numbered the same. That's the point of having numbers upper and lower.

It came into Canadaicon through Lever Arms in about 1980...there were new rifles and I think this one was the worst off. Looked like it had done a full term in the RAR and then RVN for a few tours.

Got my number wrong, AD6405676. (It was 40 years ago after all.) That changes things...doesn't it?

I hate to ask, but did it go to Lithgowicon heaven via the mangle when they were banned?

I sold that rifle in about 1985 I think and later procured a AD67XXXXX I think it was. Brand new too, and had one more after that. The ban came in about 1998 so these would be held by a Prohib licence holder now and likely looking just the same as then because we can't take them out. If not then I suspect a dewat as the REAL money's there. If neither of those two then it's living unencumbered somewhere waiting to be called back to war to defend it's current owner. They don't need paperwork to do that...lots still floating around in hiding.
    Regards, Jim
