Hi gang, checking in. Have not been around since I foolishly sold my carbine last year. I have seen the error of my ways, and have put a nice late war Inland mixmaster on lay-a-way at my local gunshop.

Just stopping in to say Hi!

Actually went to the gunshop and started the law away today. Inland with Serial number 6400389. barrel is Inland dated 11-44 which seems about right. It has a Type III rear sight "I.R. Co" stamped, which appears to be correct and original, a Type III band and lug "AI" which would be original. The bore is bright and muzzle crown is crisp. Did not have a gauge or M2 ball to check, but it looks awesome. It has an Inland trigger guard (non-M2 type) with the vertical Inland stamp. The bolt is round and blued with wear, which would also be correct. The slide is a late Type V Underwood, and It has an Underwood rebuild stock with a ".U." just behind the wrist on the left side, and an X and some other letters in the sling well.

Overall finish is 95+% or better on metal, though it is not all the same color like the Koreans Blue Skies (bolt is blued). Stock is excellent, also. I did not find import marks, so possibly CMP or DCM. Came from an estate of a 90+year old, so no telling. It is the cleanest carbine my buddy has ever had in his shop, and I have known him for 10 years, and bought a few M1s through him. Best thing is the price: $850!

Seven though I had sold my carbine last year, I kept the mags, ammo (about 600 rounds), and reloading dies. I am REALLY excited.

I have a original D tip sling and oiler from my last carbine, and 5 or 6 30s and 10 or 12 15s, also. I picked up a nice original khaki Type I (stock) pouch "DM Shoe 1943" for $38. It is NOS, and had good pics. The stitching, material and lift the dot were all correct. With such a nice carbine, I wanted a NOS pouch to go with it.

I am leaving it "as is", as I suspect everything on it is original or original to the Underwood rebuild. It will be awhile until I buy it out. I'll post pics when I can.

I mentioned that it was a type V slide, though mistakenly said it was an Underwood. It was pointed out on CMP forum that Underwood did not make type V (which it absolutely is), but rather that was probably an inspectors stamp from the Underwood rebuild. It is possible, now with that in mind, that the slide is original to the upper half! It gets better and better.

According to the WarBaby books, Underwood made a Type A, Variation 4 operating slide. It is described as being marked with .U. on the inside and 7160091 (outside) on the bottom. It doesn't mention being angled, but with that number on the bottom it must be what most of us call a Type 5. - Bob

IM, Is the U on the bottom of the outside of the slide?
