    Brass butt plate with Swastika

I had a rifle come in recently fitted with this butt plate. The rifle itself is a pre-war BSA Model 12 target rifle. Has anyone see one of these in the past or know of them? My plan was to remove the plate and fit an original however the but has actually been quite expertly cut to accept this plate so I no longer view it as something that was nailed on as an after thought.

That buttplate would be „verboten“ here in Germanyicon. They get very upity about relics with the Hakenkreuz. I bet it has some interesting history.

I have just found a link on Guns International to an identical plate, not an identical rifle though and I am not convinced by the listing either.

Since they are both on small bore target rifles, maybe they were a Hitler Youth project? Just a guess......

    "...slightly pitted barrel..." LOFL.

As for the butt plate there must be some wanker chiselling them out, but where?
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.
