    Another project 1903

Stopped off at a local pawn shop today to see what they had. A Kongsberg 1911 that was too much, a 1903A3 that I had see before, also too much.

There was another 1903 that caught my eye in the rack, sitting in a C stock. Asked to see it, it had an old Weaver scope on it and a side mount. Otherwise, the rifle was in good shape, a 3478XX serial number and also a Rock Island, which I did not have.

Stock typical late Keystone with a serif P small circle firing proof and a 8-44 SA marked barrel, nice and shiny. Then I looked closer at the scope mount. A Griffin and Howe

Other indignaties had been done to the rifle, but she should make a good shooter. Has a recoil pad, but, I think I can salvage the stock with no problem.

Looks like a standard butt plate should go right back on it. Too bad about the side mount, it COULD be sorted though. I'd love to have it too, a shooter you don't need to baby quite as much. Looks good.
    Regards, Jim
