Small 1/2 Litre WW2 German Canteen

Yes, you've read it correctly, 1/2 litre, just like the standard canteen only smaller. Does anyone know anything about these uncommon canteens, please? There seems to be very little on the internet on them but there is a suggestion that they could have been intended for women?

    Many thanks for any help.

The one on the far right is the 1 litre version and the centre one is the standard version.

Could it possibly be for children? Scout's or Hitler youth movement etc? Just a guess on my part.
