Well, according to the company selling them :

BRITISH ISSUE L5A1 NIGHT SIGHT WITH L1A1 MOUNT military spec in good working order showing some signs of use to body, comes complete with reproduction mount to fit the Britishicon L1a1 rifle and nylon carry bag (not pictured) these sight use the standard camera battery so no need to search for funny sized batteries, can be used during daylight as they are fitted with daylight filters. Priced £1495
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I had a conversation with either Peter L or Roger P re this?
I seem to remember that it was along the lines that the L5A1 scope was only a trial issue, I used one on my SLR in service and still have one, complete with bag and hard carry case and it is used on my SLR for night shoots.
Good optic but it is only 1.5 magnification, Gen 2+.

Hi Gloworm. It was probably PL - it's all a bit 'modern' for me!
