One could spend a considerable amount of time attempting to visualize that!

But, "this too shall pass away".

Saw a couple of NASCAR commemorative knives there I wouldn't mind having. How many different drivers were there for the 28 car? Thanks! - Bob

I know its old news to some and was just a mistake in a rush to make deadline but I believe one of the featured rifles in a recent GCAicon magazine was deemed to have a fake cartouche. I would have to look at the garand thread but I believe it was discussed here on MILSURPS. The problem is that you cannot take it back from a published article and a few years from now when a novice buys a copy to fill a hole or do research he will look at his fake cartouche and compare and will think he is good to go. I'm glad I'm on the downslope of collecting as the waters are getting muddied in all areas of military collecting with some superb reproductions and all out fakes being produced. I guess that's not new ground to the old timers here who collected flints, muzzle loaders, and Winchesters... I am only glad that there are so many good guys left on forums like these that are willing to comment and provide a second set of eyes..

Yeah, that's pretty bad when a Garandicon publication can't spot fake stamps on a Garand. I suppose it was a case of the provenance leading the way despite the problem.

I believe the Carbine Club had a COM that was later found to be a 'Project rifle' IIRC.
I was told by a well respected member/collector about it years ago but don't recall the details.
    All can be fooled.

Maybe there was an IP? It's not something I'm too familiar with but in the search thing on CCC there's mention of a withdrawn IP from COM. It's more understandable as you go back in time, but in today's age of vastly knowledgeable people easily sharing info via internet with digital HD images for a slick glossy publication, not so much.

It took a Fiero enthusiast to expose the Garandicon stock.

I see a current listing that shows 3 carbine stocks.

    Item Number: 324220158259

    Titled:
M1icon Carbine Stock and Handguard Restoration Service

    Description reads:
M1 Carbine Stock and handguard Restorations.
You ship your broken, split, dirty old stock, and I will restore it the way you want it to look. Stained, or natural finish. Shiny, or flat finish.
Restamped.....some custom stamping available within reason. Message me with photos...I have never turned one down. Usually takes about one week plus shipping. I will pay the return shipping.

I thought it was against the 'Rules' to offer a service.
