Ironically, I just bought four Sten slings off Ebay, and my point was, if you start low, you could get caught out. I was lucky enough to get them for what he started the auction at. Perhaps its because noone else was looking in??
Its certainly a gamble, but it reflects the true value of the item I suppose.

I have bought a couple of rare holsters from him over the years. Both were spot on to my library reference works. In the last auction for a Navy WWI Luger holster, seller made an error on describing the cleaning rod with the holster. I pointed that fact out to seller and received an apology and prompt partial refund.

Regretfully, I've fallen victim to the exact opposite problem: Selling things that I was supposed to be hanging onto! - Like my M3 Trench Knife and a 5.41M Inland that was probably the nicest Carbine I've ever owned. Someone had checkered the stock on that one, and Charlie Painter told me to just, "wrap some duct tape around it" so I wouldn't have to look at it. I ended up repairing it by using tips I learned from him and Frank D. I'm sorry now that it's gone, but at least it's in the hands of a guy that will take excellent care of it. - Bob

He does cruise shows and buys batches of stuff at wholesale. There are some smokey/fishy rumors of bonking and shill bidding, but there are a bunch of legit guys who do pay big money for his stuff. I don't get it, but somebody must.

I've bought a couple rifles from him, but always leerily. One I'm fairly suspicious that I got burned shill-bidder wise, but some of the stuff he gets his hands on is otherwise made of unobtainium...
