And I was told that was correct for my serial#. I just found it weird that the original even though cut at second band ,seems so much heavier. While on subject .Anyone know the difference between Sarco and Numrich type C repros?
Sarco walnut C stocks are nice wood but the inletting is horribly wrong behind the recoil lug. The A3 hand guards for them are hit or miss if they are even finished profiled right. It is like their stocks and hand guards were the mistakes from the stock factory.

Numrich C stock I recently picked up was a Minnelli with Italianicon walnut. The hand guard they sent to match it was American walnut, not a Minnelli. Inletting was ok but still not correct at the rear of the trigger guard. It was stepped instead of radiused where the guard beds.

To my knowledge, all military issue M1903 stocks have an alphabetical letter stamped inside the barrel channel where the lower band is located. Some may also have a small letter stamped in the butt under the buttplate.

    1903

    Thanks John
there are no stampings , just a pencil mark .Looks like a 5 o. As stated the company says its a genuine US post war replacement ..
I passed on GI take off sanded stocks with brass pins . I wish these companys would leave them alone and let new owners enjoy the the gouges and dents.
I may send it back and hope for a Ebay find ..
