Parker Hale imports of Winchester 52 .22 target rifles

    Gill
I recently purchased a Winchester 52-C .22 Bull Barrel Target Rifle - 1956 vintage. Looking through some old Parker Hale Catalogues of 1940 and 1954 these rifles are listed in both. In your Parker Hale records are there entries for Winchester 52 rifles? I'm curious to know how many were imported over the years as they seem quite scarce this side of the pond. They started production in 1920 and finished in 1980. Known as the King of the .22's they progressed through several models A, B, C, D and E. Each had four different configurations - Standard, Heavy Target, Bull Barrel and Sporter. It would be interesting to know how many were imported to establish their scarcity on this side of the pond.
    Many thanks
    Nigel

It's beautiful Nigel. I own a "B" myself. I have a copy of Herbert Houze's The Winchester Model 52". If you'll give me a day or two to research, I'll get back to you with what I find on your question, assuming it's addressed. A quick glance shows sales and order tables. I'll let you know. I'm beat tonight.

    Hi Nigel,

The records show the following which even I was aghast that were supplied during WW2:

American Lend Lease / Parker Hale UKicon

2066 x .22 Rifles on the 6th October 1941 made up fo Single shot, Bolt Action, Slide Action - Shotgun, Semi- Automatic

    660 x Silencers on the 13th March 1942

    729 x .22 Winchester rifles on the 16th August 1942

Thats all that is recorded.............no serial numbers albeit there are a few on the general list, hope that answers your question

    Winchester 52 rifles

Thanks for looking Gill. I was aware of the substantial numbers of Winchester .22's imported during the war. What I was really after was the post war imports of Winchester Model 52 rifles.
