Confusion can creep in here with the terminology. By "Turret assembly" I believe Warren is referring to the entire bronze/brass casting that the range and deflection "drums" (aka "knobs" in N.A.) mount on.

I assume these are the replica No.32's that are being referred to by the way.

That is exactly what l was referring to.
The entire turret casting assembly can and does break loose from the tube, but can be repaired.
Most of the repro scopes can but tightened up and made to maintain accuracy. One l did has has several hundred miles on the back of an atv and has digested several thousands of rounds and is still working well and shoots on the money.

That's interesting, so they're not soldered on, just shrunk on? Many moons ago Peter and I discussed how this was done on the originals and IIRC the conclusion was silver solder as they DO NOT come off without a great deal of persuasion.

The orignals that I've had a good look at have all been silver soldered. You can see the fine line round the edge of the turret casting where it joins the tube, in most. A well known author of books on sniping & military history generally had his Mk1 scope (matched to a Trials 4T!) toasted in a fire when he moved to live in Franceicon some years ago, & the turret assembly survived but the solder melted & it moved slightly. I had the job of re-sweating it in the correct place & rebuilding the scope. The lenses got so hot they'd melted!
