    Questions about Possible Issues

Way too HOT for us here in Michigan, so I've been surfing around the auction sites.
I came across these two listings by the same seller.

Anyone Care to share opinions ?

    First: Rock Ola Barrel:

    1 Is it real ?
2 Small or Large issue @ the Swage ?
3 Anyone willing to open the bid @ $349.00 ?
4 Did you notice anything else ?

    Second: IP Receiver ?

Reportedly this was the receiver that the Rock Ola barrel above came off.
Looking forward of the rear sight you'll see a lateral line (below the added numbers).
Does this appear to be a crack or fracture possibly from stress or metal fatigue ?

I've never seen a carbine barrel with a swage like that. Then to have to heat it to slide on...and has it been parkerized after? Also looks like it was fully assembled and then stripped. I wouldn't touch it.

    Jim,
Did you read his description ?
Reading between the lines reveals some tells.

EDIT To Add: I should add about the barrel, I recall seeing a different maker, I believe a Inland from oversea use that showed crimp marks there. Unless there is some blow by it might be good to go. What I found interesting was the front of the barrel where the stepped down area for the front sight looked like it wasn't the smaller diameter you'd expect, but tough to tell from pics. To his credit the seller is advising having someone qualified to look it over. I'd call it a honest description and he lists his concerns.
I wonder if it did need some work if someone like fellow member Manteo could take care of it.

Also the IP receiver he states seen over seas use. Now I wonder if before those numbers (what ever they stand for) that that area was buffed or grinded smooth for them to stamp them. Maybe while doing so it caused that lateral line I show above ?
Seeing his Feedback I highly doubt if it was stress cracked there that he wouldn't have mentioned it.
Wonder if one could grind or mill those off then refinish the complete receiver. I've seen IP receivers sell for over $2 K.

I also see in his other items that he has a nice complete Inland barrel...... Plus a really nice looking SG receiver fairly priced with a real flip sight.

Just happened across them and curious to other thoughts.

Enjoy the last bit of weekend.

I still wouldn't touch it, too many questions and there are others. The receiver...I bought one a decade back for a shooter, was an early 6 digit Winchester and it showed about new... Well it had been refinished to say the least and lasted through about 200 rds before cracking along the upper side of the left bolt lug groove. The top edge of the material had come away from the receiver for a good inch plus and was completely un-serviceable. A questionable receiver that had been used up before I ever saw it. I wouldn't touch these. Too many uncertainties.

The barrel has been there for several months in memory serves.
