Milling #4 receiver for 762 mag, info needed

    Hi all,

I'm gearing up to start an L42 clone and need my receiver milled to accept the Enfield 7.62 mag.

Does anyone have the measurements of the cuts? Depth etc...

Is it a case of just extending the existing reliefs at the same depth?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jon

The truth is that you may not need anything.

If you are planning to use a UKicon "L8" magazine the clearance cuts are for the cartridge retaining "feed lips" - but I have used "L8" mags with no alterations to the action.

If you are using a Sterling or modified Indian 2A magazine, the feed lips are within the same location as the .303 magazine, and will not require any changes.

What other magazines has anyone fitted to 7.62 Enfields? | Army Rumour Service

    Thanks Lee Enfield,

I’m using an Enfield 7.62 mag and I’ve heard/read the feed lips could get bent if the relief cuts aren’t made.
I have the receiver off the barrel and a machinist buddy willing to do it so I’m going to take the extra precaution since the mag was NOT cheap!!

There is a copy of the drawing in "An Armourer's Perspective" and it has been posted on this site several times.
