    Early ELCAN experimental model?

I found several of these locally 10+ years ago. Maybe an experimental version of what became the ELCAN.

    Also this apparently "home-made" OEG.

It's so flimsy I can only assume it was made to test the concept not the actual hardware!

I have a mate with something similar - found it to be a pretty high quality optic given the apparent age. Mounting reminds me a bit of the rail setup for the SUSAT. I have never seen any photos or reference to one in trials.

There is another member on here who has one of those OEG sights.

I haven't seen those images since about 2004, when they were on eBay IIRC

Are there any markings on the OEG sight? I've had a this one in my collection for years, but have never been able to tell anything about it. Appears to be a similar reticle, but the form factor is a bit more typical.

Only markings are a London post code -

I can't find any markings on mine. The plastic tip appears to be directly from a Singlepoint sight. I wonder if my one was intended to be used for the C2A1 Automatic Rifle for area fire as the Singlepoint would be useless. in later years there are similar large 'ring sights' developed for MGs

Is charger cover the same reinforced one used on the C1 sniper scopes? It does seem very much like a prototype unit - I can't imagine the cheek weld is very suitable and it doesn't seem like it would stand up very well to even semi auto fire. I've always found it a bit funny that someone with the knowledge to deal with the optics in that sight would just use a tip from a Singlepoint!

I have a couple of the MG Ring Sights (creative company name that one...). Very sturdy, but they must be solid glass because they weigh a ton!

None that I'm aware of - moved those on years and years ago.

    So it seems:

All Ring Sights are solid glass optical sights. They are unit power i.e. no magnification. They are all NVG compatible. They have no moving parts. No seals to leak, no internal misting up. No purging. Customised graticules. Capable of being adapted to fit various weapon systems. There are also lasers/illuminators and range finders designed for certain sights.
Interesting outfit; hadn't heard of them before. Looks like they've given up on plain sights though, the product page is empty.

Bottom right is an official 'Ring Sight', the LC-7-40 was designed for the M16icon, this one have been mounted, for trials in New Zealandicon during the mid 1980's

Am I seeing it right that the rail for the unisight has an "A" marked on it? Any chance there is also "RBG" after it? My mate may have made that during his time with REME.
