    Face plate rivets

I finely go up enough nerve to replace the chrome rivets on my face plate, pretty easy job.
Some one did a pretty good job on the leather but went crazy with round headed chrome rivets.
I was not sure which rivets to use, brass or steel. every where I looked I got a diff. answer .
Some said the correct rivets for my serial number range 695709 would be brass, other's said no, it would be steel ones, that the brass one's were used on the rebuilds.
I looked at a lot of pic's of A1;s that were close to my sn's and looked org. most of them had the brass one's. anyway I went with the aged brass ones with no numbers on the head.
I left the leather alone, I like the worn look,
Here's the before and after pic. Whats you think ?

I would have thought that brass rivets were originally used because of the anti-corrosion properties of brass. If steel rivets were used the rivet heads would likely require some sort of surface treatment, post riveting, if corrosion of the rivet heads were to be avoided.

From the below Carbine Club link: "Rivets during the period of Inland's first production run were brass. Brass rivets were common throughout production. During Inland's second production run steel rivets were also used."

Those old rivets are good to be gone.
My sig: Consider adding IP/S'G's to my registry. I've found 3 sets of consecutives & WILL immediately inform you of one if you won't cut my throat like someone else did, I do it to help us both. https://grandrapids.wufoo.com/forms/zzlnt0519k86xs/
