    Garand Inspection Stamp....real or fake?

    Hey Guys,

I have been testing myself on WW2 M1icon Garand inspection stamps, primarily through Rick Bicon's "Inspection Stamp Quiz" and some books like "M1 Garand 1936 to 1957" and the Duff book.

Anyway, I am no means an expert and most likely still a novice, but I wanted to ask a couple of questions:

    1. Besides the books I mentioned, what other resources do you all suggest?

    2. What is the best approach to judging stamps that are partial or worn?

    3. I have been looking at a lot of examples and I just wanted to get the group's take on some of them (real or fake and why):

    Example 1:

    Example 2:
    Attachment 110005Attachment 110006

    Example 3:
    Attachment 110002Attachment 110003Attachment 110004

    Example 4:
    Attachment 110000Attachment 110001

You may or may not get help with this. Usually you get a clear answer about if it's good or not but when it comes to why we try not to explain too much. It keeps the forgers from gleaning info to fake stamps effectively. It's bad enough as is. Things you'd expect would give clear proof usually don't though when judging stamps.

I can certainly understand and appreciate the seriousness of the issue. It’s just a real shame that it has come down to that.

Either way, thank you guys for taking the time to reply, and your information has helped me get a little further than I previously was!

You speak true, I sold my LL SA 328290 because I was afraid of the forgeries getting good enough that they dragged the price of originals down. Since I'm in Canadaicon, that's bad enough. I sold when selling was good. Also I wanted the money while the gov't was sleeping...
