Help please - SA80 AESP wanted

    Can anyone help please:

I am looking for the AESP (Army Equipment Support Publication) for modifications to the SA80 family of rifles - or, Rifle, 5.56 mm, L85A1/Machine gun L86A1/5.56 mm Rifle Cadet GP L98A1.

What I am after is the AESP that covered the in service modifications to the L85A1 from when it went in to service after troop trials, carried out by unit armourers.

They are listed as Modification no 1 August 1987 to Modification no 22, November 1998.

I am particularly after Modification no 8, April 1992, Pin, Retaining, TMH.

Happy to buy, beg, borrow, but not steal!

Can anyone, Skippy perhaps or other ex REME armourers, help?

    Thanks

    David

Thanks for that, unfortunately they are closed.

I have made enquiries with the REME museum, but they are also closed and only responding remotely, they only have access to online material, and can't access their paper archives until they reopen either.

    EMER?

If my frazzled old memory serves me correctly when the army introduced the sh**e heap that was the L85A1, and I was an Armourer Segreant, the appropriate technical manual, that covered modifications, amongst other things, was called an EMER (Electrical Mechanical Engineering Regulation). Came in a blue A4 folder, red if hush hush, or if you were really advanced on microfiche. No recollection of an AESP in relation to modifications/repairs.
Sorry but I can't add anything insightful about mod no 8 other than it was long overdue and should never have even been necessary... rant over.
    Good luck with your search.

the SA80 (all weapons of the 80's inc. the LAW 80 ) were one of the first to use the AESP EMER,s were still in use for other equipment,
The Mod 8 TMH pin can be recognised by a groove cut into the pin head, it did nothing to improve reliability as the pin was still pulled out with little effort,
