    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered.     subcaliber practice, in peacetime they would have developed an in-bore subcaliber device for this.

    It's a gas trap too. I saw a picture of one being used like this at Ft. Sam Houston.

    I remember seeing a pic of a small cannon, possibly an M3 37mm anti-tank gun, in the field with a Garandicon mounted alongside the tube to allow spotter rounds to be shot.

    There were several different units that were used as a subcaliber device. I have seen a modified Model of 1922 M2 .22LR action used primarily by National Guard units for in armory training. The M1903A2 was used for the same purpose but more for the use at a rifle range where tracers can be used.
