I wasnt aware there were any Chinese reloading components being brought in. What brand name(s) are they being sold under? I'd like to know so I can avoid them. Also what's the name of your friends ammo mfg business?
I wish I could supply the brand names. My friend's operation is FT3 in Orange County and he was producing really high quality ammo at a great price. From what he was telling me, it was brass, primers and powder. I'm not sure how that supply chain goes so I couldn't tell you. He's been running that place for more than 5 years and I've been buying his bulk ammo for awhile so I was shocked when he had to sell me commercial ammo.

I had one of those in a pre '72 model back in the '80s.

Friend of mine was over learning to reload with some of his .308 components just bought at Cabella's Nanaimo and there ARE shortages already. There were holes in stock there for common stuff.

Jim-- The old Pre '72 Colt Detective Specials are great revolvers. I got mine from a local ammo distributor that received as a trade-in from a local PD. The story is that the chief retired and forgot to clean out his desk and left the revolver. It appears never to have been used except by me.

I sure put a lot of ammo through mine. Made a deal with a friend and sold it to him while we watched David Koresh and the branch dividian being ousted...on TV...live.

I just checked many web-pages - sportsman's warehouse has no powder in stock. I may need to start casting bullets - 30 cal are hard to find but still available in small quantity shopping around on the web. My local gun shop was "getting out of the reloading business" when I chatted him up back in Feb. he sold me 24 bricks 1000 Rem No. 9 1/2 large rifle primers at cost just to free up his shelf space for more 9mm and 223 that was flying off the shelf. Glad I made that investment now as primers are not to be had anywhere, and it's only going to get worse.
Good thing back in Jan. I bought 2 cans of IMR4064 at Cabela's each week for a couple months in preparation for my all the shooting I do in the summer. I'm willing to sell them - price right now is $5,000 per 1 lb can. Primers too - I'll take $5 per primer.
Although I should slow down my shooting and start rationing. Bullets are my bottleneck. I have only a bout 1k on hand.
Surprisingly, brass is still very easy to find on the shelf.

Casting and swaging your own bullets are the way to go. The only items I have to purchase at this point is primers and powder which I have a good supply on hand if need be.

Last time there were shortages in the USAicon; it had a knock on effect in Europe. Quite a lot of powders and ammo were in short supply.
Having got caught last time; I picked up some powder, primers and bullets at the weekend. At least so I'll be able to compete in next years competitions with a minimum of practice.

Yes we just got into reloading again. My youngest son(26) has got all the equipment and components and loaded up about 1000 rounds then poof no primers. I found some of my 20 year old Winchester primers and hopefully we can find more soon. Sometime after the election i’m sure

I was in Cabellas local yesterday and they still had tons of supplies. I don't know if the shortage is just local USAicon or we're just waiting for the trickle down effect. Lots of everything here yet...
