    Bullet Proof I think Not!

Guys we all know we think we are bullet proof and things cannot touch us well at least I thought that. Turns out we are just the same as all out there and my whole world changed at 14:30 Sunday 13th Sept yeah I know the 13th..............However I am thankful for a couple of things (A) My wife for convincing me after nagging me for 2 hours to go to the hospital (B) The Bunbury E.D (C) The Royal Flying Doctor Service lastly the staff at the CCU at Fiona Stanley in Perth. On the day at home I felt really unwell sat down after a m/cycle run ate a sandwich and then I was really crushed by intense chest pain and jaw ache. Yeah you guessed it I was in the middle of a heart attack when my wife came in from SES training. Come on we gotta go! naaah! I'll be good give us a moment, okay okay we better go. I now rattle from all the pills I have to take for the rest of my life and have a stent in my ventricular artery (I think they said) which was 99% ocluded so I am very lucky to still be vertical. In 1990 I lost my elder brother to a H/A he was only 43. Don't think you can push these things aside chaps they soon make you stand up and take notice and its pretty selfish on the family if you go wheels up and leave a train wreck behind, won't worry you as you are dead but what of the grief and heartache on your loved ones. My whole life is now a different kaliedescope of which I am going to try and have less stress in it and devote more time to those I love. Only thing I gotta do now is not tear where the stent went through from the femoral artery now that would be terminal.

You're lucky - you should buy a lottery ticket. Kudos to your wife. Get well soon.

Glad you're still vertical, not what I want to hear, another of my friends going down... Rest and exercise.
    Regards, Jim

I had the same thing happen 21 years ago. If your hospital offers a "Cardiac Rehab" program, it's well worth enrolling. You'll meet others in the "same boat," lose some weight, and become a healthier person with a new outlook on your life ahead. I've had some tell me that a stent would only last 5 years. I'm still on my first one, and the cardiologist says it's doing fine. You could always get a "Ducati" decal for your exercise bike while you're recuperating! - Bob

Pleased to hear that you are on the mend Cinders.
Well done to your missus for realising what was going on! and you are also fortunate to live in a country that has a good medical care system.
Take time to recalibrate your priorities and get healthy; and make sure you flush the stress!

Cinders. Your wife is a keeper.

Follow the rehabilitation programme very closely for good recovery. Follow sensible heart precautions for the rest of your life.

Listen when she reminds you to take care. OK, man can listen only so many times but at least act like you're enjoying listening to her.

Glad to hear you're alive and on the mend. 99% occlusion of the left main or Left anterior descending artery is nothing to play around with. You are damn lucky it came on while you were relaxing AFTER your motorbike ride and not during it, at 60 MPH on a curve............

    Take care!

    Ed

Might be time to have a listen to what a very experienced cardiologist and a very experienced cardiac surgeon have to say?

    Cleaning house.

    And the best of luck!
