1903 without "trap door" in buttplate

I bought a 1903 at a local gun store yesterday. It has a 1911 Rock Island receiver with a 1918 Springfield barrel. It looks like a typical arsenal rebuild.
I did not notice it at the time of purchase but the buttplate does not have the "trap door" for the cleaning kit. The stock does have holes for it though.
Can anyone ID the buttplate? Is it military, aftermarket, or what is it? It fits the stock well so I have no idea. What do you think?

Here's a sale claiming this Krag has a "Rare" trapless buttplate"... RARE SPRINGFIELD KRAG MODEL 1894 BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE.
Not sure where you are getting your information, but the original early M1892 KRAG rifle did ,of course, come with a "trapless" flat butt plate. The trap was added to the later M1892 rifles ( which 5madfarmers likes to call the magazine rifles ) and to all later KRAGS. The heavy checkered ones with out the trap were for the M1922, M1922M1, and M2 22 caliber rifles in the Issue stock. The NRA Sales 22 caliber rifles had a completely different butt plate.

Someone local told me that it might be an unfinished part but I would think the hole would be present during the first steps of the process. Thanks Jim for your help!

The missing milled parts on the inside indeed would make one suggest it is an unfinished part. Probably a Bannerman-special?

Not knowing how a 1892 Kragicon buttplate looks like, so speaking generally, I would consider it somehow odd that on the inside of the buttplate would be two provisions for a trap door and the spring holding it, if the rifle anyway didn't have a trap door?

The early Krag "trap less" butt plates were different than the subject butt plate in that they did not have the curve at the bottom. The subject butt plate is the unfinished forging. The two bosses are part of the forging. The next operations would have been to drill and tap for a screw for the spring and cut a recess for the spring. The next operation would have been to cut a recess for the trapdoor. The subject is simply an unfinished M1903 butt plate. How it got out of SA or RIA will remain a question not answered.

Smells like something Bannerman would have had a hand in.

There was a post in here that somehow went missing - I didn't reply to myself. It was someone claiming again it is a 1892 Kragicon buttplate - why and by who was it deleted?

    Promo,
You are correct. There was a post that had pictures of an original M1892 KRAG flat ( no trap door ) butt plate. It was nice to see because it kept me from having to find my original M1892 KRAG and take pictures.
