    Testing day for the restorations.

I finally got out to the mountains and was able to test some of my restorations. All but 4 are mine, one is a buddy's and one is in original condition. None blew up, only one had any casing expansion and I now know which is the best shooter. (Funnily enough it's a No 5).
Oh, and I now know my eyes are too old for iron sights.

I should add that these are my strange restorations - rifles that had cut barrels and I made into faux versions, and No 5's that I still can't get flash hiders for. All the normal Enfields I've restored didn't come to the range that day. Most of them I've posted about previously.

It sure is. I had a no4 that had lost the bayonet lug, and had a partly hand-carved walnut stock I didn't know what to do with.

I've just noticed that my fears with that gun not being bedded well enough have come true. It has popped some wood off on the wrist. Guess I'm going to be doing some more work on it.

    That looks pretty darn good.
It's unfortunate about the bedding issue but at least you now have an idea on how to proceed ... something like this is much about trial and errors and is never 100% completed if you ask me.
There's always room for improvement, but that's part of the fun.
I know a guy that has an original butchered one and wanted to fix it up... i'll show him what you have done.
