NOS M9A1 Gas Mask Sealed Can

When I went to do the transfer for the Yugoicon SKS I bought the shop has a boatload of M9A1 Gas Masks Small and Medium still in the spam can. Don't know if anyone he is on the look-out for one but here they are. They want $60.00 each.

I go back to pick-up the rifle on Oct 9, might just pick one or two up for my collection.

You guys sure used those for a long time, 1947-1995. You sure know how to store stuff too, ours came in a cardboard box and even though they were wrapped well, they couldn't be counted on to survive until the next century airtight like these... Seen, they must have had these stored away for emergency. I remember during Gulf war one you guys had the ones you describe. That leaves an overlap, and they just have these now for sale.

My dad gave me one of these masks in 1960 when his unit in Franceicon switched over to the M17s. I kept and played with this mask, even used it on Halloween 1960. It finally came up missing after one of our military moves in the late 60s. One of the drawbacks to this mask was the glass eye lens. No protection from flying debris. One of my lens was taken out by a BB gun. Glad my name wasn't Ralph.

Ours had them for decades too, they could even be had in prescription for the guys in need. I never knew of anyone that did though. The next iteration of mask had the plastic fly eyes for more visibility. I never had the chance to use that one though, not that I'll miss that honor.
