Tatou, The spliced stock came out quite nice. Are you sure you need to make another forestock from scratch? Could you possibly make a small patch in the area in question? The stock is already a combination of pieces anyway. Also a dark stain will make the joints less visible. Impressive work on a worthwhile project. Salt Flat

Btw as i make these post the project is now further along.

It was not a complete forestock i had to make but just the front part... i still wanted to save the rear portion.
I already had experience doing the same on some Sht LE MK Is, Sht LE Mk IIIs a LEC carbine and a NZicon carbine.

I did think about making a repair at the volley sight position... repairs on old Britishicon rifles are quite common and not out of places.
I also thought about installing a P14 pointer and few would have noticed.
The trouble with both of those options is simple... i would have known...
One thing that played into the equation in me deciding was that i also had to make new hand guards.
So might as well go all in and try to get things to match a little bit better (things will still need to be stained though)

Ok... so here's some pics of the fore end and handguards build. This is just a rough in.
I was able to find some nice light colored walnut at my local wood store.
I'm quite please with the find.

This is with a little more refinements and dry fit.
As today this is were the stock is.
I needed to install the nosecap to help with fitting but the barrel that was on there is too thick for it to fit.
I will need the P14 barrel installed to complete the stock.
Still plenty of work to be done, everything is over size but the general shape is there.
Most of the hard part is done.... the wood that is...

    That woodwork is awesome!

From what I am able to understand your rifle currently has a barrel in .303 Britishicon in it. Therefore my understanding was that you would not need to replace the barrel, just leave it as it is, if you decide to keep the rifle in .303 caliber (small side question: is the barrel currently in it marked in any way?). IF you keep the .303 caliber I think the best way would be to use the original P.14 rear sight, cut it down a bit and reinstall the top with the stopping screw. This way you would not need to re-graduate the rear sight and can leave it the way it is.

Re your question: I don't own a single P.13 any more. They became more. Currently I have three of them of which one is the "Indian conversion" (at least per Skennertonicon) from the Faris collection. It features an unique folding peep rear sight and has various other modifications. Anyway, if you need any comparison pictures let me know. I think the ones already on the forum here should provide very helpful and show many of the details you need to know.

    Thanks guys.
I do enjoy it but it's a ton of work since i almost exclusively work with hand tools.
I rough cut the block of woods on my table saw and use my router for the barrel channel but all the rest is done using rasps, files, sand paper and the dreaded evil Dremel tool with a drum sander

Yes the current barrel is in .303 British but it isn't a military barrel.
There are no proof marks or anything like that.
The rifle has been away for a while so i don't remember exactly but the only markings it had was a couple of numbers.
The barrel is shorter and thicker than a normal P14 so it is not good for the restoration.
The front sight band wont fit over it, neither will the nose cap.
Here's a picture showing the difference in length, the thickness is less visible.

So at that point i sent the whole rifle to someone who specialize in restoring rifles.
He will take care of all the metal work.
I know my way around wood, but i'm pretty much useless when it comes to metal fabrication.

Here's a few before closeups of the ears.
