    USGI Bob,
I believe yours is a number 50, not 30. We've been playing with your picture here, but note my quote is a typo, mean't to say "I now believe it to appear to be":
“50” marked stocks - The Carbine Collector's Club

    Bruce,
Main objective here is a number or numbers near the Recoil plate. It's the actual number stamped that we're trying to gather the meaning of. The other information IE: serial number, if import marked .. etc is secondary, but still hoping to gather input.

To Add: Free to report on any observed carbine or loose stock, even if seen online auctions , gun shows, etc.

Hi Charlie, is this the stamps you are researching? The second one is there but hard to see in my pic. it is just like the first one. Both stocks have the serial number stamped on the left side. Let me know if you want pics of those.

    Best Regards.....Frank

    Are both 50 ?
1st I can see ok, with the Circled around 5 and 0, both with their tops toward the recoil plate.
the 2nd pic/stock (the lighter color one) is it 50 with same orientation- numbers tops towards recoil plate ?

    Thx Frank.... Good Weekend !

Hi Charlie, yes they are both the same. Second pic is poor but in the right light you can see it. Actually you can see it better in the first pic. maybe the angle helps. Both are stamped with the serial number. Darker one, IO with CC and .U. rebuild #2218204. Lighter one LW no CC AAD rebuild #2972519. HTH

    Good Weekend to you.....Frank

Hi Charlie, as I was putting these stocks away I found another stamp. It is on the IO darker stock. I don't know if it helps but thought I would pass it along.

    Best Regards.....Frank

Charlie, Here are pictures of the (2) stocks that I took this morning. Did the best I could while sitting in my easy chair watching the Baja 500, and with my old cat on my lap. The first (2) pictures are of the S-HB Type 3 which you guys have been trying to figure out. It still looks like either 50, or a 5 along with a 0 or O. The other stock is in the last (6) pictures. It's got the IBM action in it now and is an OI marked Type 3. It has a 10 on the pistol grip, s/n on the left side in white letters, and also some white markings under the forearm, along with some staple or nail holes. I've seen those in the same place, on other stocks before. I think the recoil area markings on both stocks are nearly identical. I'll let you do whatever you want with this info over on the CC forum. I can't post pictures there. It's too nice here today to be indoors! - Bob

Should be Base Workshops Singapore, March 1956. Many years ago I had a similar mark on a No5 butt and this was Peter's explanation of it.
