Not to me at the current price, but well timed on his part.

Maybe others here know "jackthedog" personally...I certainly don't. I wish I knew how that guy finds the stuff he does. He's had some truly incredible rifles over the years. This among them.

How many documented rifles from Pearl Harbor still exist? In 1999, this was only the second according to Mallory. Maybe the magic of the internet has uncovered a few more. There can't be many, and certainly not this nice. This is a museum piece. A real treasure. I don't know if there's any price that would shock me for something like this.

Excited to see where it lands. The National Museum of the Navy seems appropriate.

There are six known M1903's from the 352 on the California list. This one is very nice and appears in pre WW2 condition, all others I believe have gone through WW2 rebuild or at least re-stocking. Though a question was asked whether JSA was still inspecting rifles in late 1918.

All I get with the link or using the first post is a warning of cloudflare. I'd post the complete pics here if I could for posterity...

With correct provenance, it is what it is, and as valuable as a collector would pay for it, and if its correct and stands close examination $9500 is probably reasonable in that condition!!

If it was my interest, and say my father served on the Caifornia at the time and had access to those rifles in the armoury on board, it would be of immense interest!!

Sorry, the link worked when I posted it, probably because I'd already been through all of the "hCaptcha" rigamorole.
