    M91 feeding problem

Well I finally got some dummy rounds from J&M so I could check to see if my m91 ts was feeding properly. The rounds seem to be hitting the ramp low and I have to back the bolt off a bit then they go in. Also last round on clip stands straight up. Is this a clip problem or a mag problem. Thanks.

This is Italien rifles so the M91 is a carcano and not a Mosin Nagant M91

Not really . The OP clearly states it is a M-91 TS .

---------- Post added at 10:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 PM ----------

Back to the question . It could be the clip or any of the parts of the magazine . There is a spring that pushes the
    " arm " up .

I have 2 clips. I messed with the one I was using, since on the first few tries to load I bent it some. Now it matches the good one and works except for last round which stands at a 30 degree angle and has to be pushed down and held to load correctly. That may have to do with mag also. Has anyone heard of this? Thanks

    Jay,

It sounds like the lips of the clip are not sufficiently strong enough to hold the round in the correct position. Try flipping it over and see if the other end works better.

These clips are 75-100 years old and many are just plain worn out.

Jay, I bought two of the M91 Cavalry rifles recently from Classic. Both had problems feeding. The round when stripped must feed up and get behind the lips on the front of the bolt. From being in storage so long they were both in need of cleaning and polishing. This cured one and helped the other. Being luck to have two to compare I found that the other had a weak spring to push the cartridge up compared to the first. I was able to find a new spring and cover from Numrich and it cured the problem. Hope this helps!
