    1903A4 Roll Stamp Fault

Has anyone seen such a fault on a 1903A4 before?

Normally marked on the other side but if it rolled over this would be the result. I understand that when the make a A4 they change the markings from top to far side? Would this be the result of that change?
    Regards, Jim

The serial number font was smaller on the A4.

I wonder what it looks like on the other side? And under the scope base. This looks a little iffy with just the one picture.

the font in the picture looks smaller than on my A3's. Were the letters smaller on the a4 as well?

If you compare the picture to other 03a4 pictures, the "U.S." and the "Model 03-A3" look to be in the correct position. Only the "Remington" is out of position. The fonts all look correct.(see link below) I do believe it is merely an issue of a roll die improperly indexed. Salt Flat

It is and I have one that’s a couple of hundred later. The roll mark on mine isn’t centered either as the serial number is almost under the mount but the manufacturer and model designation is lined up on the left side.
