ПНСТОЛЕТНЫЕ ПАТРОНЫ капцбра 7,62 and Small Pistol Primers

one of my buddies called me yesterday to tell me about a gunshop that had Small Pistol Primers. So when I drove over there this morning to grab some I saw they had a box of 7.62x25 Tokarev! tough to find these Russianicon ones but I also paid 69 cents a round so not a good deal for surplus. I didn't have this version, so I picked them up as well.

For the primers, they are limiting the purchases to Pack (100 primers) of each type $10.00 a pack so a bit more than double the normal price. So I picked up one pack of Small Pistol and a Large Rifle. So now all I need is 400 more primers. I asked my son to run by the shop today and pick up a pack, so I guess I need just 300 more.

Wow, I thought our prices sucked at $50 CDN per brick of 1000. I managed to stock up a bit cheaper though, about $35 a brick for 5000.

Standard small rifle primers can be safely substituted in pistol rounds.

I did notice that the price for Primers in Canadaicon was stable and reasonable. Things are totally out of hand here Bricks of 1000 Primers are going to $200.00 Plus! ridiculous. I do not know why people still pay that much, just keeps the price high.

Small Rifle Primer's prices and availability are just the same as Pistol Primers. I have 200 Small Rifle but will need to keep them for a rifle since those are scarce. Thank you for the information though.

What's your source for the information shown below? I'm curious what's said in "Note 1 at the bottom of the page" - Anything about Military Spec primers if loads will be fired from an M1icon Carbine? Thanks! - Bob

Thanks, Jim. I sure missed "NOTE 1" when reading that. Speer must have changed recommendations a bit then regarding the M1icon Carbine. I've only got their older manuals - pretty sure they recommended #41 primers for the M1 Carbine, but I know that others say to ignore that. I know the 41's are a little harder and feel safer using them. - Bob

The info I posted is excerpts from an article entitled "A Primer on Primers" posted in the reloading forum over at Snipers Hide.
