And there were riots over mask laws and lockdowns back then. Try telling that true story and you are likely to get banned from the internet for "fake news misinformation".
My son had to do a covid related school project...it was to put together an informative website. He chose to go the historical route, comparing to other pandemics. Over several weeks he would find something - like the riot stories, and then the next day go to incorporate it and it would be gone...removed from the internet. I had a lot of fun showing him the wonders of the wayback machine.

It's all about control. I read about what Australiaicon's done during this and am frankly horrified. There is no way in hell anyone would put up with that here and our politicians aren't stupid enough to go that far. They are pushing the envelope as it is and people are starting to fight back. I just watched a video this morning of a State Trooper here in PA that did a follow up on a mask incident that happened at a retail store. Actually went to the guys house after running his plates. The homeowner confronted him verbally, the Trooper never left the side of his car and eventually left after telling the man some untruths. There is no mask law here. None. There are mandates created by the governor and he doesn't have the authority to make them law or enforce them as such and the Troopers know this despite what they claim.

These videos in turn however inflame those that view them into even further disobedience. Contrary to popular belief, Facebook is not blocking all the insurrection. There are private groups all over facebook and they are getting nasty. I joined one, have avoided the rest I keep getting invited too. I stuck with one concerning my home state.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone. Do what you feel is right and stay well.
In spite of the China virus, we had the family over and celebrated. It was 20 degrees F. Had a full grill of Italianicon sausage.
    Perfect.

I spent the day up in the mountains running some test loads through the M1889 Italianicon Ordnance revolver. No mask, no fires, no panic, no leftists. Worked out just fine. Even kept them all in the black, despite that twenty pound trigger pull.

Life here is pretty much normal with two basic exceptions, you have to wear a mask whenever you go into a store and a lot of restaurants, and other entertainment facilities are closed down.

There is no near collapse of the health care system, in fact, a lot of nurses and doctors have been laid off as the politicians have decided that hospitals can no longer do non-emergency procedures so the space is available for the flood of covid patients that never materialize.

The media likes to find one hospital somewhere that is near capacity and go there and find all the nurses and staff that like to bitch and moan about everything and then portray it as normal when it isn't. Hospital in the next county has plenty of space, etc and the nurses there will tell you they have Covid patients but nothing out of the ordinary.

It's all politics, science isn't determining anything. You can easily see here the state of the US hospitals. No where near capacity, operating at 10-30% in most cases. COVID-19 hospitalizations by state: Dec. 23

And none of these show any emergency hospitals because there are none currently. Capacity can be nearly doubled if needed. Philadelphia for example has a full hospital just sitting there still fully equipped because it recently shut down and they have done nothing with it to prepare for anything.
    Nailed it.....
