Help identifying M65 (?) style waxed jacket

Can anyone help me to identify this jacket, worn by the late great Harry Dean Stanton? It looks to be an M65 but there are a few strange features—it looks to be an older talon style zipper and zipper pull; the jacket looks waxed; and there are no diagonal button-holes on the collar. I think this is a great looking jacket (even if a repro) and would appreciate any help finding one.

If this isn't the place for this question mods, please let me know / move the thread as I'm new to the forum.

It does look like a repro, HDS always looked a bit ratty and at first I thought it might just be a REALLY old dyed jacket. I knew a guy that died his M65 black and cut off the epaulets to get away from the military look. If it's a waxed cotton, it could have been done special or it well may just be a copy. Doesn't look like the correct type of zipper at all. Mine had a very coarse zipper with a wire double loop tug with a cloth strap in it.

Hi Jim, thanks for your message. Yes, he was a pretty scrappy guy. Definitely not the correct zip for an authentic M-65, must be a copy of some sort. Great looking jacket though, would love to get my hands on one.

Thanks Jim. I'm definitely not going to modify one on my own. I'm thinking that that jacket probably came waxed, as there are several things about it that are non-authentic to traditional M-65s.
