    CMP M1 Barreled Receivers

Placed an order for a barreled M1icon Receiver. They say the one I ordered are about service grade. Anybody received one lately? Condition? What was the turn around time from when your order was placed? Thanks for any info.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Order for three (3) $125.00 RM1SABRCBs received by CMPicon on 12/11/08! Received Order 03/19/09!

    Initial Findings:

Serial #163078X (June, '43) No Rust! No Pitting! 95++% Original Parkerizing Overall! MW 1.75...TE 5.0(-)! Perfect Muzzle Crown! Strong Bright Rifling! Annealed Heel! (Absolutely Gorgeous! Service Grade Without A Doubt!)

Serial #95543X (November, '42) No Rust! No Pitting! 90+%-95% Original Parkerizing Overall! MW 2.25...TE 4.25! Excellent Muzzle Crown! Strong Bright Rifling! Annealed Heel? (Another Very Nice Service Grade!)

Serial #322003X (October, '44) Minor Spotty Surface Rust! Some Pitting...Bottom Face Of Receiver...Couple Spots On The Barrel...A Little Below The Woodline On Both Sides Of Receiver! Clip Latch Included...Pin Was Rusted In...Liquid Wrench Cured That! Poorly Applied Greek Black Over The Original Parkerizing! MW 3.0+...TE 5.0! Good Muzzle Crown! Decent Rifling! (Barreled Receiver was sent off to Texas Armament today (3/27/09) for bead-blasting & reparkerizing...gorgeous SA barrel (9 53) W/MW 1.0 & TE 3.0 will be installed...only if needed!)

All in all, I've received 4, actually 5, winners out of the 6 Correct Barreled Receivers Bad (3 WWII & 3 Post-War) that I've ordered! The one above is by far the worst! The other five receivers are all 100% Rust and Pitting Free and 4 out of the 6 barrels are absolutely great, one w/TE of 10.0 (?), and the one described above will be replaced if needed (after getting it back from Texas Armament and putting 100+ rounds thru it and seeing how it shoots)! I received exactly what I requested on both orders that I placed (except that 322003X was a little disappointing)...each for 3 CORRECT BRs! I cannot say enough positive things about CMP and their concept of Customer Service! I have never...never...been disappointed! VIVA LA CMP!!!!!!

Update: 95543X & 163078X have been built into stunning SGs! Original "cartouched" WWII wood is just too spendy, so they'll have to live in rearsenaled WWII wood (sans original "cartouches")...otherwise they'd be CGs!
