QHMC Low Wood with a "U" marked stock - correct?

    Good evening everyone,

Does the description and the photos accurately represent this QHMC Low Wood stock?

Especially the reference to the "U" marking on the left hand side of the stock. Is the "U" a private contractor rebuild mark for Underwood Elliott Fisher?

I believe it is a rebuild marking, thanks for all opinions,

Well his pictures suck. I opened a few up in a new window to zoom in, but still hard to see details. The .U. would mean that stock was on something that went thru the post WWII rebuild program, in this case being rebuilt by Underwood. The CC looks to be the right size and location but again hard to see the details. There is plenty of buttplate recess so it doesn't appear it's been heavily sanded. I can't- but wish I could see more detail on the right rail to see if its been cut down to a low wood. Rock Ola Did make a Low wood for QHMC, I just can't tell if it's a true low wood or cut down. Best I can do with the pictures. He does offer a 30 day return.

With nearly 3 days left.. I'd ask him to Email close up pics of the CC and sling well stamp along with a top view of the top of the right wood rail just forward of the wood bridge.
To see if the CC and Slingwell Stamps are real and if any sign of being cut down.

    Sorry not much help.

    Charlie, thanks for the reply

His pictures are poor and I did ask for more photo of the areas you listed and have gotten no reply. I think, according to Riesch, it is a post war rebuild. However, the CC does appear to be in the correct place and from what I can tell from the pitchers it may be correct.

I've got a high wood, oval cut, Type “B” or Type “II” with sling cut out: Q-RMC for Rock-Ola which appears to be correct along with the hand-guard marked Q-RMC . it's just cracked down the left-hand side and was looking for a respectable low wood for a late - March 1944 QHMC.

    Thanks again for your time,

    Tom

Wow......not that hard for a rebuild I would think. The bidding war was great for this seller.

Double what it may really be worth. Who knows now days.
